Government is a massive employer and its contractors are in virtually every industry in existence. Perhaps you should ask those people if they mind not getting paid.
Hilarious you POS hypocrites post shite like this when you cheered on and demanded the destruction of thousands of small businesses in 2020, both from Covid shutdowns and the mostly peaceful riots.

I work for the govt in a pretty specialized area. We are considered ‘excepted’ due to our mission criticality. So I will be working without pay until funding is appropriated. I would agree that there are quite a few areas that wouldn’t hurt to be shut down though.

Well thanks for your service. But like most government agencies, 70-90+% of the employees do nothing and those positions shouldn’t exist.

Idk if it’s that high but yea it is a bloated organization.

Total shutdown is never going to happen for obvious reasons.
Do you prefer all federal employees get a paid holiday? (I'm looking at a fed job myself here real soon, I would enjoy the free paid holidays).

It would be most effective if the govt workers were placed of furlough, like non- govt (loss of income during the shutdown)

When was the last time you went to the DMV or Post Office?

I mean it really doesn’t matter. Any “cuts” they get by shutting the Govt down aren’t really cuts anyways, just a cut in the rate of growth. And Govt workers will receive back pay. It’s basically a show.
Now if they were able to get actual cuts and not give Govt workers back pay, then yeah, shut the bitch down

See, this is dumb as hell. Yeah, many government employees will not be working in a shutdown, but saying they shouldn't get paid because the idiots in DC WON'T DO THEIR JOB is just pure animosity.
As a government employee, I will say that alot of positions are useless or redundant. It pissed me off when my agency did some restructuring to be "more efficient" when the problem was people not doing their jobs...many of them with the same position as me, and I was outperforming them by 100% with less staff and experience.
Most of the federal government's problems are self-inflicted because of leadership being unwilling to do the hard thing, but instead just asking for more people.
Trust me, while me and my coworkers were joking about getting a vacation next week, every one of us would rather be at work doing our jobs next Monday, and not docking computers and stashing cell phones in desk drawers.
I took an oath my first day in office to serve, and the only reason I won't be able to do that Monday is if those 400+ jackasses in DC don't do their job.

Was at the post office a few weeks ago. There was 1 person at the desk. Haven’t been to the DMV in quite some time. I try to avoid it.
I agreed with you that the govt is bloated. Not sure how else to communicate that.

You can count on a post office having one person at the desk like you can count on Mcdonald's ice cream machines to not be working.
The USPS is one of those government services that would be better off privatized. It's dumbfounding how inept some of their people are.
