Are you hard wired or using WiFi? What device are you using to stream, smart TV, streaming device like Fire stick, Apple TV, Roku, etc?

My wifi router from AT&T, I thought I needed to hardwire it. So you suggest running a lan from my router to my tv?

Are you using the native app or do you have something else plugged in?

I’ll hard wire it tomorrow thanks for your insight! Fishing wires through walls is always a treat

I’d try to run a cable without pulling it through walls to see if that’s the issue but it definitely could be the problem.

On yttv you can turn on "stats for nerds". Check for dropped frames, current vs optimal res, and connection speed.

it used to be superb but it has definitely gone downhill in the last month. I have to watch college football on the ESPN app to get a better picture.

I had a terrible picture with my Samsung TV when using the downloaded YouTube TV app. I plugged in my 4k Apple TV and started streaming through it and it was significantly better.

I'm guessing (in my case) the tv just doesn't have the computing power to stream in HD constantly.

Sony Oled and using the native app and wifi mine does not look to great. I thought about hardworking in, but I read that the ethernet ports can't handle the same speed as the wifi, so I haven't done it. Anyone know if that's true or should I hardwire in?

It's possible that your TVs ethernet port is "only" 100mbit, but that is *plenty* for streaming TV. Where hardwiring really shines is in latency and stability. The TV's wifi might be faster than its wired port, but wired should be just about 100% solid and stable (read: preferable). That said, I realize it can be a lot of work and possibly expensive to do so. You can get a long cable and just run it on the floor to test before making the decision.

You could also try switching wifi channels, or from 2.4 to 5ghz or vice versa.

For reference, an HD stream is ~5mbps and a 4K stream is ~20mbps, so any "slow" 100mbit ethernet port will work just fine for TV. And if you don't know what I mean by latency and stability, read up on how wifi works (and doesn't work). Look up airtime fairness, TX retries, interference, etc. It's kind of miraculous that wifi works at all.

It's also possible that the TV and/or its OS and apps just suck.

It wouldn't be difficult to of a run at all, just never did cause wifi was easier. I need to check if I'm running on 2.4 or 5. Netflix and other apps look great, just youtube tv looks somewhat pixelated

it is a 100Mbps ethernet port but latency and consistency is much better with the wired than wireless. These TV streams are only using about 5Mbps.
