10 team standard league. Lost Chubb. My RB room is bad. Currently have Stevenson, Akers, and Gus Edwards’s. I don’t like Pierce, but I’m kinda desperate. Thoughts?

Pierce is the starter and will get more volume. Akers is a backup that has lost a step since his achilles injury. I'd take Pierce 12 times out of 10 over Akers. I dropped Akers and he went unclaimed in our 10 team league.

I don't think it's that simple. Pierce has a terrible offensive line. Akers will play in the offense that will score a lot more TDs and be in better RB game scripts. And Akers did have some good games at the end of last year. Pierce is more talented but I'd still call it a toss up

Minny doesn’t run the ball in the red zone.

This is where I am with Akers. Pretty much sums up what I would say. I would add that there are likely issues that are there with Akers and I doubt he is with minny or anyone else after this year.

Akers is worthless, he might be third string

I don’t think either, but Pierce is better. The Texans don’t really have anyone behind him, so you won’t see much split.

Mattison runs like a 4.7 forty

Akers might be RB1 pretty quickly

Lmao at this point they can't still trust Mattison to hold onto the ball. Akers may end up #1 there

Why don’t they give Chandler a shot? He hasn’t looked bad with his touches and ran a 4.38

Mattison got 11 and 8 carries the first two weeks. This isn't a team that wants to run the ball imo. Look at their moves over the past 365 days
1) Trading for a pass catching tight end and extending long term
2) letting Dalvin walk and rolling with a career backup and a late round pick in Chandler
3) Adding a 1st round WR in the draft

Not all RB1 roles are created equal. I don't think this one is all that valuable, even when accounting for an offense that should score a fair amount of points.

And then Cam Akers has to win the #1 job- he has played for parts of 4 seasons and suffered a major lower body injury, averaged 4.0 yards per carry, had a middling pass game role, been benched/inactivated for 2 separate stretches by a generally respected organization/coach, and was acquired by his current team for a "conditional late round pick swap".

So there's no real investment in him by Minnesota, and he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire when he's been on the field. I'd rather have the 2nd year back who averaged over 70 yards on the ground last year and is currently #1 on the depth chart.

Not really speaking to this trade, but folks are certainly putting value on Akers. I just dealt him straight up for LaPorta.

Was a no brainer for me.
