Do you use one? Pedal/rack? What’s your favorite?

I had been looking for a compressor for awhile and just couldn’t get along with them. Then I got turned on to this

It’s a compressor, but it’s a transformer driven preamp as well. The thing is amazing. Gives you just the right amount of control and blending in parallel with the powerful transformer, it’s just like a controlled explosion of sound. So cool. I’m not affiliated with the maker, just a huge fan now. Guitar, bass? Don’t matter.

Pedal of the day - Niche Humboldt

I also had a chance to try out an Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Bass and it was pretty cool too. Was going to pull the trigger on one until I found the Humboldt.

my drummer/engineer got me one of these for recording purposes.

Onstage I prefer a Keeley Bassist. Might have to give the Humboldt a listen.

Thanks for the post, pete

I use a Keely too when I use my pedal board. I also have a Tech 21 Dug Pinnick pedal that has a good compressor. I also use my SansAmp PSA rack mount sometimes and it has a smooth compressor as well.

Here's one like mine. It replaced an old royal blue and three-knob Boss Compressor Sustainer so you know it delivers the goods.

I've got one with a 40 gallon tank and 5 HP motor.
Really I'm about to be in the market for one.

Saw a Tone Press for sale today. I like parallel compression. How is it on bass? It’s priced pretty good.

Fretshack says it's good, so I know it must be.
For a hundred bucks? Is that the normal range? or is that a special deal? Because that's about what I would like to spend.

Not sure as the Tone Press is new to me. Haven’t seen one before. There is one on the verb for $110. It may be the same guy as some will list multiple places but they are always more on verb due to accounting for fees. I think new they are 160.

Here is an Ovnilab review

Barber Tone Press

I think 85-90 would be a good deal used.

Janglebox because I’m into that kind of music.
