Enough of us play around town that I thought this might be useful, maybe the admins can even sticky it. Obviously the drought has been a bear on courses but still be nice to know how stuff is holding up.

Seen these in the last month.

Gus, in fantastic shape, I don't know how they do it with all the play they get.

Woodlands CC Player Course, a little brown in spots but overall course is in good shape, they are keeping the greens a little long which is the prudent thing to do.

Cinco Ranch, it has battled all summer but it's really starting to show that it needs water, grass is very sparse.

Shadow Hawk, in fantastic shape but not the perfect tour conditions we've come to expect. They are keeping the fairways and greens a little long(smart) but playing those greens at an 8 or 9 is tough to get used too.

Supposed to play Whispering Pines in the morning, I'll report back.

Forgot I played Atascocita a few weeks ago, it was long and shaggy everywhere.

Played The Wilderness in Lake Jackson last week, the front nine was in good shape. The back nine was fantastic. This Tuesday - Wednesday they were supposed for punch the greens and maybe fairways.
Also played Tour 18 yesterday and it was in overall fantastic shape. Some of the greens had small bald spots but overall it was nice.
Played Gus two weeks ago and it was in great shape as always, with the rain last week and heading into the City Championships, I’m sure it’s even better.

Greatwood-

The greens are the best in years. The fairways are a mixture of green and brown, some holes have some big cracks in the fairway. Need a lot of rain now.

Played Westwood yesterday and it's fantastic right now, the drought hasn't hurt them.

Played Gus Wortham yesterday. Fantastic shape, lightning fast greens. Got it done in 4:10, which seems to be their average.

Tried to get a tee time at Highland Pines for yesterday once the registration window opened. I waited until mid morning to book a foursome and nothing was available. We ended up playing the Tournament Course at the Golf Club of Houston. The course was in fantastic shape but surprisingly it was cart path only, I would have thought that it would drain better. The Marshall said the LIV Golf folks did a tour of the course last week and they were overall please with the conditions. I started off even par after four, but the fifth hole got me and then the wheels fell off. Ended up with a 89.

Bump

I wanted to play Highland Pines next weekend. Asked a friend to book me a tee time, he was curious to see the aftermath of the floods. He said the clubhouse is finished and turned out nice. He drove around the course and said Tee to Green 9 out of 10. Greens were 1 out of 10. He talked to some of the members that play everyday and they said the greens are bumpy, won’t hold a line and are slow. Looks like the greens will be a long term project to get them back in shape.

Highland Pines will be raising the weekend green fees to $160 effective July 1st.
Guess they need to do pay off the new clubhouse.
