Looking for recommendations for an airport shuttle from Laguardia to Tribeca. I know the Uber/Lyft/Taxi is available but wanted to see if a better/cheaper option was available.

Carmel or Dial 7 car service. You can usually find an online coupon for a few dollars off.

There is also a shared shuttle. Go Airlink

I have used Carmel twice at LaGuardia. Once worked out fine, the 2nd time not as well. It took over 30 minutes for us to find each other. He wasn’t fluent in English and on the phone all he would say is he was in a black Mercedes. Him and dozens of other drivers.

We usually just catch a cab. Seems like it’s always a quick exit that way.

At certain times of the day the fastest way is to grab a cab to Astoria and a N/W train downtown. Make sure you get a feel for traffic and call an audible if necessary.

This is the right answer during morning or evening peak traffic, especially going to Tribeca or anywhere west side lower Manhattan. Outside of being much cheaper it will be significantly faster, assuming you don't have to walk far from the subway station to your final destination.

I used Carmel last October to go to Manhattan after flying into LGA. Driver was on time, but it took forever to get to my destination. Not sure if that was the driver’s fault, traffic, or a combination of both. This was middle of the day on a Thursday. Price was reasonable.

I just caught an Uber from LGA to Soho last week after arriving at 4:30. Took over an hour to get there. The bottleneck on the Williamsburg Bridge was worse than the I-10 Bridge in BR.

Last time I flew into LGA I did the Q70 LaGaurdia Link bus to the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt subway station and took the subway into Manhattan. It was super easy. The bus is free and the subway cost like $2.50.

I will say this isn’t the most glamorous way to do it. But I was solo with minimal luggage and no time crunch so it was nice.

When I do short, solo trips to NYC, 3 nights or less, I use my travel backpack and mostly take the airtrain/bus to subway/NJ transit/LIRR depending on airport. When I was younger and money-conscious, saving that $100 ($50ish each way) was put towards enjoying the City.

Now even when traveling for business where I get reimbursed, if solo I still prefer using transit unless its early morning with no traffic or late evening when the trains run less frequently.

Friend,

During the day, I would recommend taking the subway and train. Take the 7th Avenue Express north. Get off at Times Square and walk to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd. Take the E train to Roosevelt Ave Station where you pick up the LaGuardia bus. I once took a cab from the Financial District to LaGuardia during a weekday and it took two hours. Sure, the cab is faster at off times, but during the day, there is a good chance the subway/bus will be quicker.

Yours,
