HI,

I am planning to replace a wooden fence/gate on my property with an iron gate/fence. Any recommendations?

The gate/fence would be 17 ft wide and would be part of a planned extended driveway. Any inputs on likely cost? I am not thinking of electric but would probably get quotes for both.

Many thanks.

It’s a big world. Where do you plan to put it?

Why not powder coated aluminum? Iron can rust.

Trust me. It is a worthless endeavor without an automatic driveway gate.

They’ll just climb over it. You should dig a moat and fill it with water.

Aluminum ornamental is the way to go if high security is not an issue. Supreme and Automatic Access Gates are very good. AAG if you want it operated. Never go cheap unless you want to do it again in five years.

I just used RG Gate Operators, LLC in Baton Rouge. Older gentleman and did quality job. Not sure about the gate itself as i needed a new operator only. I don’t have his number.

Scott Fence in BR replaced some of my cedar fencing and installed a remote control 12' powder-coated aluminum swing gate on our driveway. ~$6000, was about 60' of cedar fence. The drought made the gate sag a few inches, but since it was less than a year they came reset the posts free.
