I didn’t watch a lot of ND football games so overall special teams aspect is hard to speak to; but the big games part and qb part were obvious.

As far as recruiting ND recruits itself for most part. Staff has to win some battles against other top schools and pick some diamonds in the rough. I did not see him improve recruiting more than it would have done with any coach.

He pushed Denbrooke aside as coordinator after one year as coordinator at ND with “promotion” to AHC, and when Denbrooke’s replacement left he really wasn’t even considered again for OC position which is why he took OC position at Cincinnati. Hiring him at LSU was a sign. He is not horrible overall, but he is just running Kelly’s offense and doing OC admin work during the week. Kelly doesn’t want a coach better than him running the offense, and he doesn’t want to learn a new offense to be hands on like he wants to be with the offense. In that regard he is like Les.

Kelly also seemed to have a chip on shoulder at ND which seems to have disappeared with the $100 million guaranteed contract. He seems way too comfortable just cashing in check now.
