I had to look hard for one with a real agitator but had to succumb to more electronics than I wanted. However an $800 GE is doing great.

Yes, but it takes 2 hours.

I absolutely hate all of this technology shite in normal appliances. They ALWAYS have issues

For example:
I have Nest thermostats throughout the house and they fricking suck balls. They never work properly, they always don’t keep the house cool, bla bla bla

Next, I have a 2 year old LG refrigerator - it’s fricked up.. it does not cool. I have to hire a refrigerator handyman to come rape me

Third, I have a pretty badass (at least I thought) Maytag washing machine that fricks up every cycle. Either stops before the water is drained or doesn’t even go into the spin cycle

It’s just one issue after another issue with these new high tech appliances.

Never had issues like this before with the older models and less tech appliances in the past. Never

Salesperson: this model lets you turn on the washer from your phone
Me: will it collect my clothes from the laundry bin and load the soap?
Salesperson: of course not, you have to do that
Me: then why do I need Wi-Fi if I’ll be standing right next to the washer
Salesperson: umm…let me go ask my manager

Take it from me, personal agony. Buy the most basic washing machine you can find.

I hate our dryer because it has auto-dry sensor. Damn thing hasn’t worked since day 1. Clothes were all still wet. So now we just use timed dry out of the 56 options they have. So dumb. I just want an old school dryer that has one knob with times on it.

That's all I need it to do. It's not that hard. My refrigerator is 15 years old, I won't get a new one until I absolutely have to. My garage, alarm,A/C, oven and stove all have wi-fi. It makes sense for the alarm and a/c, but I don't need it for anything else. Never set it up.

Does that technology help load and unload?

Go mattress shopping. I had to get my daughter a new mattress the day. USB ports and 120volt outlets built in. WTF

I have seen one use for a wifi enabled appliance.

A guy at Home Depot told us about a couple that bought a wifi enabled stove for the husband's parents.

His parents were elderly and had a bad habit of forgetting to turn off the stove. He bought the stove and put the app on his phone. That way he could remotely monitor the stove for their safety.

Bought this SQ last week and expected delivery today or tomorrow. It's replacing a less than 2 year old Maytag base model that is garbage. It's doesn't agitate enough to even spread the soap around the basin if you use pods. It's ruined 3 shirts and a pair of pants due to the pod melting and just sitting in the same spot causing a stain.

A normal generic washing machine is way better than any of those “smart” washers

There's an episode of "The League: where Ruxin is bitching about his phone dropping calls and he says "The only app I want for my phone is PHONE". I feel the same about appliances. The only function I want from a washer machine is to clean clothes reliably and well. Same sentiment for my fridge, etc.

The best technology a washing machine could have is to be able to transfer clothes once done washing over to the dryer and start the dryer. Can't tell you how many times I'm busy and leaves the clothes in the washer for a day before switching to the dryer.

I couldn't care less about AI or voice assist, get my clothes in the dryer.

I knew we had begun to jump the shark when I noticed my toothbrush has Bluetooth.
