I’m becoming an a-hole when people ask me questions that should have no bearing on anything they need to know. It’s creeping communism. Pisses me off.
You're not the only one.
You're probably also an a-hole if your doctor's visit doesn't get covered by insurance, and some of those things they're asking can affect that. So if you are proud of being an a-hole, don't be one to the doctor's staff, call your insurance company and be one to them.
I promise you the doctor's office isn't asking because they care.
I've instructed my staff to just start telling people who act like that, "We don't have to collect that information, Mr. Jones, but it may affect whether your insurance company reimburses for today's visit. So would you rather pay for today's visit and keep that information to yourself, or would you rather we collect it and bill the visit?"
So far nobody's chosen to pay themselves. Everybody's all principled until it means they have to pay for something.

I wouldn't be an arse to your staff until they presented that option. I would then gladly take my child somewhere else.....and before you say they would ask the same question I can promise you, my childs current pediatrician does not.

What the frick are you talking about? Are you saying that the insurance companies are requiring to know if we have fire arms in our house? I distinctly remember that American Society of Pediatricians came up with this dumbass question….like 50% of the limp wristed medical association that have gone woke and trampled over human rights in the name of safety and LGBTQXYZ activism
