Killed all my egg laying hens. How soon do they return and is there any tips on finding their den . Also what’s their hunting radius or do they hunt an area and move on.

Pretty sure they only use dens in pup season.

LFC info on Pasture Pirates

HighCotton is correct-during spring season weaning pups.

Reach out to these folks and they’ll hook you up with trappers in your area.

Where are you located? Do you have a decent sized pasture you can hunt them in?

This time of year they don’t stray super far from their den as the pups are just getting of age to go off on their own, so if you had some kill your chickens then the odds are that they have a den not far off.

Set snares in the right places and you will clean them out. Unless you have dogs...

Do they stay in the area their whole life cycle or do they move around

They can move around a lot. But during summer when pups are still pups they never stray far from the dens.

Best plan is to get you a breed of dog that has the natural instincts of being a herd/guard dog. A great white pyrenees, Kangal Shepherd, or Anatolian Shepherds.

per the www, territory ranges from 4 to 15 sq. miles. As long as they can find an easy food source, the predator will return .... coyotes, fox, coons, bobcats, etc .... They are creatures of habit and always looking for a free meal. Coyotes breed in March and gestation is 2 months. Pups right now are around 4-5 months old.

here is a 4 month old coyote. Looks like a grown puppy, doesn't have the fall pelt markings, and very inquisitive since they can hunt on their own, and they were trained to be fearless of humans

6 month old coyote with his father

9 months old with early stages of the winter coat and traditional markings

Doesn’t exist except the couple of months when they have small pups.

Get a territorial dog.
Shepherds are solid…or a donkey.

I’ve had chickens about 6-7 years now.I put an electric fence with 2 wires.1 is 6 inches from the ground and 1 at the top and I haven’t lost a chicken to any varmints.

I’ve had hawks kill 2,that’s all.

Did they do their killing at night?

Build a concrete pad, build coop on top of pad, use automatic gates/doors… profit.

I like what others have said about the snares and baits. Watch YouTube videos of how to set snares. Get a good drill, auger bit, dirt pan, polyfil, wool, shovel, stakes, sledge, the whole 9 yards. Go all out and post photos of the dead yotes. Of course, first wait until the official trapping season starts and get a trappers license.

Night vision/thermals work well too on a black scary bang stick.

That’s why I asked where he’s located and if he has a pasture to hunt them in I’ll go kill them for him if he’s close
