Tour championship scoring

I had no idea that the scoring was going to be done were guys start out with a score based on the past season.
Scheduler not a big fan of it. Feels this is not the best way to determine who the number one is.
For example. Player A start at -10.
Player B at -4 and so on.
Kind of odd a couple strokes can be given based on an entire year of play.

It’s been this way for the last 2-3 years at least.
I like it, means the guy who “wins” the season wins the final tournament, even if they did have a handicap.
It was always strange when the winner of the tour championship and the winner of the FedEx cup were different people
ETA: also gives everyone at least a shot at winning. Previously the guy who was in 30th essentially had no shot at winning the FedEx cup and was basically just playing that tournament for shits and giggles (and $$$). Now it’s at least possible even if highly unlikely

Going to be brutal out there. I live about ~20 minutes from East Lake and I thought about going out there Thursday/Friday. Then I saw this...

I agree the tour championship as it is now is a bit odd. I don’t like giving the guys head starts and handicapping this event. I’d love it if they changed this to a match play event. 1 plays 30/2 plays 29 and so on and so forth. Winner take all.

I don’t know why they can’t pay everyone out 80% of the fedex money based on the standings right now to reward season long success.. and then let them all start at Even par tomorrow for the remaining 20% of money and call the winner the fedex cup/Tour champion.

What I don't like is the massive gap between #1 and #4. Needs be tiered better IMO. Rahm winning 4 tournaments this year including a major with a runner-up finish in another being 4 strokes behind Scheffler with 2 wins due to the weighting of the past 2 tournaments just seems wrong. Even Hovland having a 2 stroke handicap on Rahm with half as many wins and fewer top 10s seems ridiculous. There being a 2 stroke gap between 1 and 2 doesn't seem right either. If they're going to handicap the tournament, I'd probably have #1 at -10, #2-5 at -9, 6-10 at -8, etc.
The system IMO just rewards play more over a few weeks too much comparative to the entire season.

If they're hell bent on stroke play then take the top 30 and randomly draw for pairings. The only need for seeding is a match play format.
