re: How young was your child for their first LSU football game?

My son was ten for his first Tiger game. The only loss in the 86 (I think) season, at the hands of Alabama. Hodson was injured and Mickey Guidry played but I remember, Bobby Humphrey to the right for six yards, Humphrey left for four yards, all night long. But it was a lot of fun. And my son got to learn a new song. Roll Tide roll, around the toilet and down the hole, roll Tide roll.

I will never understand why people here get so bent out of shape by parents molding the next generation of Tiger fans

Well I won’t do either. I don’t drink. I’m planning on bringing my daughter to her first this year. She will be 4 in December. I’m not bringing a 6 month old in though. I believe there is more harm than good that can come out of that at 6 months old for a game they won’t remember. I don’t believe the reward outweighs the risk.

That’s exactly what it’s about. It’s an entertainment business. That’s like saying a movie isn’t for your satisfaction. Games are played and won for the individual satisfaction of the team and fans of that game.

I went full retard how? The drunk passionate fan is annoying the bumps on a log that would rather sit all game, are they not being selfish by the definition put forth in this thread?

Bringing them out of the house at all can lead to more harm than good. It's a lazy argument.

LSU football does not exist for you. And the parents are the selfish ones

Because I love LSU, but I love him more, I love when I’m with him and I want to have that moment.
Basically because I want to.
You'll have plenty more years to take him to Tiger Stadium. Wait until he's older - you'll still have that moment and both of you will enjoy the experience far, far more.
And your son might actually remember it too.

I never said it was selfish FYI, it's a free country but I just don't think it's a good idea to bring an infant to a game at Tiger Stadium and would strongly advise against it. Especially if it's a day game it can't be good for the kid to be in the heat like that. Seems like a stressful environment regardless of the time of day. Just my .02
You went full retard by comparing that to being drunk and rowdy which is expected at TS, and frankly one of the reasons why it's not advisable to bring a 1 year old to.

Plenty others have.

You're entitled to your opinion. Maybe you aren't one of the many douche bags here that talk down on everyone that doesn't do a football game just the way they envision everyone should. I apologize for lumping you in with them.

I don't see what's hypocritical about being ok with going to the game after some drinking at a tailgate, but not being ok with bringing an infant to the game.
Again not trying to tell others what to do, especially with their kids, but this thread was about advice and so I gave mine as a father of a kid roughly the same age as OP's.

I feel like I did a fairly good job of explaining, but you can only lead a horse to water.

That's fine. Like I said, you at least seem to not be part of the mob chastising parents that do bring their kids, so I'll give you credit for that

My son was 7 years old.
Debating whether I want to take my 5 year old daughter this year. She actually asked to go, but handling bathroom breaks will be challenging af for me solo.

Men's room stall and clean the seat, or you can hold her over. It's a girl dad right of passage.

I know how stupid this was now but we brought our first born to the infamous Arkansas/Oscar Malone game when she was 6 weeks old. With a win Curley Hudson Hallman would have taken us to the prestigious CarQuest Bowl. Of course we got run over, around, and through by Malone and the Hogs. It was really cold that November night. We also took her to Murphy's after the game.
