I thought about this yesterday before I got here to read the thread about the way Jarrett Lee has bene acting off the field and the way he's acted on the sidelines during games. No interaction with other players, etc. etc.

Let me say first, that I haven't bashed the kid like most have here. I understand the fact that he was thrown to the wolves and there's a potential for improvement. Is there a possibility that this potential may be ruined now that he's been through so much now. The only thing I worry about with Lee is that his psyche may be ruined because of trial by fire.

Something to think about. For all I know, he could bounce back next year and improve dramatically, but can you argue that there's a possibility that he may be damaged goods now?

For you idiots that want to bring nothing to the conversation but "that's all he'll ever throw is pick sixes", stay the frick out of this thread. You don't know that. I don't know that. That's what's fun about message boards. EVERYTHING is speculation because ultimately, none of us know the real stories behind the scenes.

don't think so. He seems like a pretty tough kid, and he's a fighter. He has really handled the adversity quite well. He's a class act.

Of course you can, though everything I've heard about him would dispute that.

in a way, it reminds me of David Carr getting sacked a bazillion times - even when he had a good o-line, he was so gunshy, he could never recover from that feeling he was about to get blindsided.

Once a QB has it in his head that shite's 'bout to go bad, he cant shake it

......or you could be like Kerry Collins and just stop drinking

I think he has a strong sense of confidence in himself but he has to be crushed with how some of this season has turned out. I could understand if he transferred and wanted a fresh start somewhere else but I doubt he does. I think a month of Bowl practice and a spring and summer with the Wizard will do wonders for him. Nothing like watching yourself frick up on film to learn what not to do.

JLee supported JJ while on the sidelines and was one of the first to congratulate JJ after his TD.

Also, last year Matt Flynn rarely talked to his receivers on the sidelines.

To answer your original question: for this season, yes. His confidence is shot.

And let me add that whatever anybody here has to say about Lee plays maybe .00001% of how he probably feels. Because nobody could beat up on Lee mentally more than him beating up on himself. I think some people give themselves way too much credit when it comes to praising or criticizing a player as if their word is the "difference maker".

Not to say that if Lee was out in a bar and some jackass was saying something negative to him that he probably would want to take a swing. But I think it's funny that people actually, really believe, in their heart, that whatever fans say on TigerDroppings.com is the reason he's in a funk right now. That thought in itself is pathetic.

I think he can bounce back...he is a coach's son. The thing I don't like is his teammates don't seem to be reaching out to him from what I can see and that is troubling.

I was sure the kid was shell shocked and finished after throwing the pick six against Troy. So what did he do? He came back out on the field and lead us to a W. A shell shocked player couldn't have done that.

My guess (and that's just it, a guess and nothing more) is that the kid needs time off to get out of the pressure cooker. The off season should help. I also figure he's got the mental toughness to go out and give it another—and better—shot next year. I don't know if he'll be our no. 1 QB, but he'll be out there in SP trying to claim the spot.

My prediction for '09: I think Lee will improve, see and read the game better at the SEC level, and probably wind up splitting time w/Jefferson. However, I do not see him automatically transforming into a Bradford or McCoy; I believe Lee's progression will be more gradual, and that, if he blossoms at all, it'll be as a junior or senior. I bet his career trajectory is something like Wilson's at Bama.

If he is ruined then that mens he will inevitably be 2nd string next year to JJ (probably).

And as 2nd string the fans will come back to support him since for LSU fans, the 2nd string QB is always the favorite.

I dont know about 'ruined', but since the guy is about as mobile as my refrigerator, he HAS to have a very good completion percentage with very few INTS to beat out guys like JJ and RS...IMHO.

In other words, there isnt much room for error, and if he cant break the habit of locking on to one receiver, then yes, he may be done as far as starting for LSU (if that's what you mean by ruined). The kid is extremely tough, so I wont count him out.

I worry that he might be ruined but I hope and think that he's not.

First off, people need to stop pissing on him cuz that sure as shite doesn't help. It doesn't help, you don't know what you're talking about and what is the fricking point in being so miserable all of the time?

I think next year he will benefit from having shep here to come in on certain packages and spell him, let him sit on the sidelines and watch. Let him look at what's going on out on the field for a series.

I think with spring ball, IF people in BR and on the team stick by him, I think he'll improve, make up for mistakes and I STILL think he could be one of the great ones when it's all said and done. You can't tell me he doesn't have the tools. The ball to D Byrd against Bama? The long (dropped) ball to Mitchell and Byrd in the last couple of games? yeah......he has the tools, needs to bring the mental part around and I believe he'll do that.

To JLee

That idea applies to fans of every single football team out there, with exception to maybe Colts fans, Jets fans, I would say Patriots fans but not this season.

But you get the idea.

I have been critical of him late in the season, but i think the break between the Ark game and the bowl game will give him a chance to clear his head a bit and rebound. I hope, and think, he will play better in the bowl game (assuming his injury doesn't keep him from playing), giving him some confidence going into the spring

FACT

Lee's freshman year > Colt McCoys frshman year

if this ruins him, he would have been ruined from something else down the road. i can't seehim being that weak mentally/emotionally

part of me thinks he will be fine and bounce back after some down time to decompress because he seems like a fighter..

but another part thinks he had enough of people booing the shite out of him and giving him such a hard time...

if i had to guess i think after some time to chill out and quit getting fed to the wolves he'll be back next year and improve
