Repainting the living room and finally got all the trim sanded and painted, walls sanded and spackled, and the tape is 75% done.
I don't get how painters make a living and can do that shite so quickly. I know good/most painters use good brushes and can just hand do it without tape... still amazes me.

I’ll mow grass for a month in this heat to not pick up a paint brush.

Yeah, I really hate it more than just about anything. I was telling my wife outside of pulling insulation out from under a house painting is probably the worst.
I think it's cause in my mind it should be easy, but there is soooo much prep work to do it right.

Get the right brush! Short handled angle brush, angle in the edge & brush 1foot below trim. Then roll the wall.
Same for the ceiling. Angle brush your line & fan out 1’ away from the corner, then roll the rest.

My painters do a pretty good job. Biggest problem I have is them matching stain on oak stairs to LVP floors. It’s not possible.
That's not painting, that's staining. Totally different imo. Staining I can do without tape and is pretty easy. Matching color is tough though

You can’t match stain on oak
Stairs exactly to
Manufactured LVP
Floors.

If I try to paint, it’s gonna cost me more money than I thought I would save. No doubt.

I’m digging the advice given here. Give advice now on someone who needs exterior two story painted lol. F all that! (I’m not doing that shite). Not me! I’m paying someone for that.

Well, you did it backwards. Paint the walls first then cut the trim and that's when you free-hand your lines. Painting the trim first and then taping it to paint the wall will look like shite.

My uncle had a paint company and I worked 2 summers with him when I was 14 and 15...tape was never seen or even mentioned, certainly none in the van. That man could knock out a nine Lite door in no time and do that with a 4 inch straight brush. He said that a 4 inch brush was all a good painter needed.
I hate painting but I do it when I have to. What that man taught me has saved me 10's of thousands of dollars over the years.

taping makes a mess because paint gets under it. i can cut in with no problem. it's all about keeping the brush loaded and dragging that bead of paint on the tip of the brush.
