Bring the family in for LSU game and thinking of staying a night at one of these.

Has anyone does this or familiar?

Also -- unfamiliar with that area in general, is Destreham location safe enough?

Destrehan and Oak Alley are not all that close to each other and are on opposite sides of the river, but both areas are extremely safe.

Check out the Nottoway House cottages. It’s still a 30 minute drive to campus, but the house and grounds are beautiful. The cottages are only a few years old.

They typically offer fine dining for dinner and a nice breakfast, but I just checked their website and unfortunately the restaurant is closed for maintenance.

If you can swing it, it's Houmas by a country mile.

I have stayed at all...Nottoway would be second place.

Destrehan is one of the safest locations in the area.

Are you looking for a place between NOLA and BR? Why not stay at one of the plantations in St. Francisville? That is some of the prettiest terrain in the state.

This is a little farther away from New Orleans and Baton Rouge, but my favorite plantation to stay at is Monmouth in Natchez.
