My how time flies. Doesn't seem that long ago when Chris Henry was balling out at Belle Chasse HS. Slim was 6' 5", 185 lbs. and could run a 4.45 40-yd-dash. A complete mismatch amongst the smaller DB's in class 3A. Henry played both ways, WR & S, and basically carried Belle Chasse to the 2001 State Championship game where they got beat by Parkview Baptist. He went on to play at West Virginia and then 5 years with Cinci. A volatile career plagued by suspensions and injury. Crazy talent but was his own worst enemy, possibly due to not having a father in his life. Slim passed away in 2009, as he was 26 yrs young. Argument with his fiance', climbs into the back of the pickup truck where he fell out and died from a head injury.

Fast-Fwd to the present, his son Chris Henry Jr. (HS - Soph c/o 2026) just committed to tOSU. He is a carbon copy of his late father at 6' 5" 185 lbs. Long, tall, speed, and insane talent. He had 3 D1 offers in the 8th grade, and 25 offers as a HS FR. This is where the story gets even better. Knowing Henry Jr. had no father to help raise him, he was legally adopted by PacMan Jones. They would go on recruiting visits together as PM stepped up to help this kid out. Surprised LSU hasn't offered since he has LA ties, and he lives in CIN and has hung out with Burrow and Chase many times during practices. At least offer the kid, invite him down for camps, and see if the coaches, other recruits, and Tiger Stadium atmosphere can make an impression on his NSD decision 2+ yrs from now.

Henry is the #1 WR, #1 player in OH, and #8 overall recruit in 2026.

I'm sure staff will offer him. If Henry would have played with LSU I would say we might have a shot even if slim.

He lives and played in the school district where I grew up and my parents still live. The locals say he was happy there but Pac Man moved him out to a school on the other side of town against his wishes.

Honestly makes me respect PacMan Jones more for stepping up and adopting this kid but not sure he’s a great role model. He’s lucky he isn’t in jail at this point. Good luck to Junior wherever he ends up.

Sister is committed to OSU for basketball. He’s not coming here.

I remember the state championship game, I think he had over 100 yards within the first 2 minutes of the game then PBS shut him down the remainder. He was a freak.

I just read yesterday that Dre Kirkpatrick, Jr. is a highly rated recruit also. I had to read it again.

I remember watching him in the state quarterfinals against Teurlings who were the 2 seed in 2001.
Belle Chasse just lobbed it up to him and those 5’9” cbs stood no chance.
42-35 Belle Chasse in what was a great game.

No need to feel old. The majority of these kids have kids of their own by the time they're 17 or 18 years old.

Shane Shelley and Slim were a great combo. However, Parkview.made adjustments and Henry pretty much quit in that game!

He was just following Lester Ricard’s lead from the week prior in the semifinals when he basically threw the game for Amite.
