John the Baptist baptized Jesus into the baptist faith. It’s right there in the Bible
That’s a pretty crazy take. One I’ve honestly never heard before.
Complete bullshite but crazy.

The practice of baptizing (immersion) existed long before the Baptist faith. The first Baptist churches came around 1609. Martin Luther had great regret for Protestantism that he started by the end of his life. He spoke of Protestants being no better than the Papacy, being worse than they were under the Papacy and evangels being seven fold worse than they were before the reformation. Contrary to rumors, he did not request a Priest to confess sins to on his deathbed, though.
Obviously, the act of baptizing was done even before Christianity existed. John the Baptist was Jewish.
El Groucho is almost certainly Catholic.
