We are heading to the Bama game in a couple months. We aren't sure if we are heading up I12 or I55. Looking to play golf on Friday and wanted to get some insight. We are considering Oxmoor but would rather not bypass Tuscaloosa and then head back. Old Waverly was suggested but that's a bit out of the way as well. Any tracts along the way y'all would suggest? Personally I want to take I55, but we haven't completely decided.

I-12 turn into I-59, right? I’d try to find a place in Hattiesburg or Meridian.

If you don’t have luck there, I’d go to Oxmoor. Birmingham to Tuscaloosa is not a bad drive. A fair amount of it is 6 lanes. Tuscaloosa to Columbus, MS sucks dick.

That’s the damn truth. Speed traps all around gordo and you will inevitably get stuck behind an 18 wheeler at some point around reform

If you don’t want to go to Bham, the casino course in Philadelphia or North River may be the way to go. You could do Bent Brook, which a good bit closer to Tuscaloosa than the other Bham courses.

Also right on the side of the interstate before you get to Bham, isn’t it? It always looks like it’s in good shape and wide arse open.

Thanks for the suggestions. We may be able to get in at Hattiesburg CC. If not, we may try Bent Brook

We played the Capitol on Thursday then Oxmoor on Friday and Sunday. Only one round (Sundays) wasn't over 5 hours. Nice damn golf courses though.

Correct on both counts. They rotate keeping a 9 closed to help with condition and maintenance.

Bent greens that roll pure…after you correctly fix the ball marks people don’t know how to. Just be sure to schedule tee times as far out as you can so you get one.

Bent Brook only takes tee times one week in advance.

If you’re looking to play an RTJ course like Oxmoor, choose Ross Bridge, it’s on the other side of 459 from Bent Brook.

Has Ross Bridge opened back up?

I don’t think so. There’s no tee times on RTJ website or GolfNow. Don’t live in birmingham anymore so I didn’t know they were closed for whatever reason.

I’ve heard they have increased their green fees to $300+. Used to be around $125 iirc

Awesome course though

Ross Bridge is still closed I believe. I played oxmoor valley a couple weeks ago and it was in decent shape

Some idiot at Ross bridge mixed the wrong chemicals and completely killed the greens is what I heard
