He also had 7 turnovers, zero blocks and only 5 rebounds. That’s a bit disappointing.

It looks like LSU shot the ball extremely well. 57% overall; 56% from three. The FT% was a solid 72%.

PR only shot 42% overall; 27% from 3, and 64% from the FT.

That kind of discrepancy should have resulted in a 20 point blowout for LSU…if not for a ridiculous 29 turnovers. Wilkinson and Collins combined for 13!! That overall number is outrageously bad.

LSU was a turnover machine to start last season. They eventually got much better in that category. However the offense got much worse.

It looks like LSU had roughly 100 possessions. That’s a really fast tempo and seems to be in line with how McMahon wants to play. But in no way can you play that style if you’re turning the ball over on 1/3rd of your possessions. It masks the fact LSU didn’t seem to play THAT bad defensively.

It will be interesting to see if that number improves tomorrow (it can’t get much worse). On the flip side, 57% shooting with 20 assists on 29 made baskets means the ball was moving! Stewart nearly had a triple-double!

I am not so worried about the turnovers this early in the season.
1) it's August with a lot of new faces
2) the expected starting pg is out.
3) 9 of the to's happened in the 3rd Q with odd lineups and a huge lead.
4) they recovered with only 4 in the 4th to close out the game.

Now if Cook isn't eligible, I will be watching the TO's a lot closer. And of course things mean a lot more when the real season starts. But I like the shooting numbers and quick start to the game. Mwani and Ward may lead the team from the 3 spot.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if they cut the turnovers way down today. There’s really no excuse for yesterday.

It's practice...in August. So no, there is no reason to panic. But 29 TO at ANY point in the season is ridiculously bad.

It doesn't look like the guards were the biggest "offenders". Stewart presumably was the primary ballhandler. He had 3 TOs. Not a great number. But with combined with 10 assists you happily take it.

With Cook out I don't know who played the SG spot. It likely was Wright or Wilkinson. Or some combination of the two. Wright had 3 TOs in 30 minutes. Which again, isn't good, but not horrible. Wilkinson with 6 TO's makes you wonder if it was a result of him having to handle the ball more? That's never been his game

According to the postgame report, there were at least several illegal screen calls by the FIBA referees. Who knows how legitimate those were yesterday. Just something to keep in mind.

Still way too many turnovers though.

Overall, it was a good result for LSU. It was good that they were able to battle back after an abysmal third quarter.

Nice to see some "big action" instead of the "big talk" of Wade - a man who couldn't do without cheating.
