I agree with this. I was a pinkertons homer and refused to go to truth because of the line. Truth was fabulous. The turkey and brisket crush it and sides are amazing. I'll take pinkertons on pulled pork and ribs though.

I think this is were Truth really shines...yes the bbq is some of, if not the best in the state...but their sides and desserts are top tier.

Most places sides are a "cause I have to", or they have too many on the menu to do any of them really well (looking at you Feges). Truth kicks arse here, and once upon a time, J Bar M was also putting out really good stuff aside from BBQ, back when Willow and his wife were there.

Truth
Pit Room for the charred okra/green beans and the best chips and queso in town.
Pinkerton's rice dish that he calls jambalaya and potato salad

Anywhere else I'd rather just order more proteins and skip the sides.

Pinkertons is great but them not having a plate option makes it more expensive. Truth 2 meat plate with 2 sides for $26 gets you a lot more food for the price than the a la carte weighed proteins at Pinkertons.

But truth plates are only offered tues-fri and I try to go on Tues or Wed when minimal line.

Feges brisket really is at the top tier with the others. And I really like their brussel sprout side dish.

Fell in love with their pinto beans. So much so that I tried to recreate them when I got home a couple of days later. When they were finished I took out the leftovers and reheated their beans, tried mine then theirs. I needed to add a tiny bit more salt and some cumin. Nailed it.
