Flights open up to book in about 3 weeks for our trip from MSY to Dubrovnik Croatia for July 3rd-14th 2024
Any tips when i should book flights.
Since there doesn't seem to be many 1 stop flights (looks like 1 a day) should i book ASAP. Looking at United flights and doing the premium economy over economy.
Also thinking of using Chase Sapphire points.
Any tips / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I wouldn't be in a hurry to book but it seems like you may be antsy and have researched this well.
I used the Chase portal to book flights to Europe last november and it worked great. I set a google flight tracker and watched it and then booked through the Chase portal. Not all flights were in the chase portal but at least 80% were.
I can't really comment on that route, but I'd set a flight tracker for a couple of different dates and see how low they go so you have an idea. But yes if there is really only one direct your options are limited. I'm not sure where you are flying out of, but you can just do a domestic transfer and go from there.

Are you dead set on July?
I went in 2021, and it was hot as frick, especially when I walked the Dubrovnik city walls.
I'd be trying to shoulder season it a bit after that experience, but it will certainly be summer sun weather so if that's what you want, you'll get it.

Dates are set, there is a big group of us chartering a yacht so flying into Dubrovnik July 4th , spending two days there and then getting on boat the 6th.
Flying out of New Orleans. They have a flight to Newark then direct to Dubrovnik.

You can do a single stop on British Airways as well.

Are you going on Yacht Week?

Fair enough!
Do try to make time for Plitvice National Park before or after the yacht. It's incredible. It somewhat astounds me people go to Croatia and miss it, and it's not terribly hard to get to either.

use chase points but DO NOT use the chase portal. Find a chase transfer partner airline and book through them. Much better point redeeming and sometimes there are transfer bonuses.
United and British Airways happen to be a transfer partner with chase. Just google how to transfer points from Chase to (Airline).

I'm by no means a CC point wiz, but this simply isn't true. Chase portal gives you 25% additional points and many routes especially popular ones have not great or very limited points booking seats. If you know how to look for flight deals and then book through the chase portal, you can land some incredible deals. Every booking would really vary as far as what is the better option.

Consider flying to Houston first to take Turkish to IST. I realize it’s an extra flight, but TK often smokes other airlines in price, and it’s a really close last hip to Croatia. And you get to avoid Newark in the summer, which was always fun.
