Many of you know that I gave my clubs to a good friends son who made his high schools golf team. A quick update on my friend, the ALS is taking a toll, he is now using a cane to walk all of the time.

* A piece of good news (can't mention names now) A local Golf Pro has really taken an interest in this young man's talent and may be willing to help him progress. Since my friend is having a tough time working full time right now, money is tight for the family.

As far as the bag, I did a lot of simulator work testing new irons mainly. There were some disappointments, some what I thought they were and one nice surprise.

Bag Setup -

Driver TSR 2 , GD DI6 60 shaft
3 wood , TSR2, Tensi Blue 65
5 wood, TSR 2 , GS DI6
Hybrid, PXG Gen 3 MMT shaft
Irons, PXG Gen 6, MMT shafts
Wedges, PXG 0211 52* MMT and Edison 57* KBS
Putter - Cameron 5.5 Mallet

The Hybrid, Putter and Edison Wedge are the only clubs from my old bag that I kept.

Irons- I tested the Ping 210's, Mizuno HM Pro, Srixon X 7 & 5, TM 770 & 790, PXG Gen 6 and Titleist T200's. I stayed with the Gen 6 irons because for me they preformed as well or better than any other iron and I am very comfortable with them.

FWIW, Golf.com just ranked the Gen 6 irons as the most forgiving irons on the market.

What's interesting is that I hit the X7 irons more consistent that the X5's... I thought about ranking all of them, but that is so subjective.

The biggest surprise iron - The Wilson Staff CB9's. What a great set of irons they are. Great looking and for me they out performed most of the clubs mentioned above.

I would have bought them on the spot if I could have got the shafts that I wanted in them. I may still get a set to play around with. They are that good.

Last, I played a round with the new PXG ball and I really liked it. Good distance and stops on a dime. I had no durability issue with it either. AT $39.00 for a dozen, it's a good deal for a high quality ball.

Ive used the PXG balls for a couple rounds and I have to disagree with you on the durable part, I’ve cut them with pretty much every wedge shot. They have been good off the tee for me though.

Id say they are comparable to the qstar tours

They are making some good and nice clubs. Especially over the last 3-4 years.

I don't see a 9. Is it just the CB?

What is your review of the MMT iron shafts. I was fitted into a regular flex 60 gram and i love them. My swing speed and ball flight are low. A golf buddy decided to order a new set of cobras with stiff flex mmt’s not sure what weight he ordered. His swing speed and ball flight are high.
Curious to see if these shafts are a good option for two completely different swing speeds and flights.
