If you had to pick one Chicago steakhouse for a group of 10 people what would it be?

All replies appreciated

Smoque just opened their steakhouse a few months ago and it's quickly become one of my favorites in the city.

Aside from that, hard to go wrong with Bavette's, Kinzie and Boeufhaus.

ETA: Think I would add Swift & Sons, too. I've brought it as a recommendation, in addition to the above, to this board several times. Good option for a larger group and West Loop is a lot of fun for cocktails before/after dinner.

I have been to many of the steakhouses in Chicago as part of business travel and would agreed with Hoops. You can't go wrong with any he listed. I've also had very good meals at Gibson's also.

Smoque is definitely on my list for the next visit.

I really liked Gene and Georgetti. A bit old school.

Loved Boefhaus, when I went years ago. Glad to hear they are still open. Had an awesome boudin noir with beets app and a great steak.

Yes but don't get steak - the steak has on and off nights. Go for the old school italian food.

In a city that big, I don’t know if that there is “one” best, I suspect there are probably 7 or 8 which are spectacular in their own way

Who is the group of 10? Work, family, bachelor party?

Bavette's can't do parties that big so its off the table. Same with Boeufhaus.

If its work and you want to play it safe I might just do Chicago Cut or Gibsons.

If they are even remotely adventurous then I probably move towards Swift & Sons. If you are looking for fun its Maple & Ash.

Good looks on checking that. Honestly, I thought about it and was too lazy, so just tossed them out since they're among my favorite in the city I'd only been to each with ourselves and another couple.

Thanks

Yeah I read that about Bavette’s. I’ll do that one with the wife one day

It’s a bachelor party so atmosphere will be a plus

Did Gibsons Italia with the family last august, and it was good, but I wasn’t blown away.

10/10 ambiance and view however
