My aunt owns a little dive place there. Hotel Margarita Bay or something like that.

Hell yeah bro. What dive shop are you at? Got my open water cert from Alton’s in 2021. Love that island

Utila Dive Centre. I just randomly picked though. Doesn’t seem like you can go wrong with any of the dive outfits down here

Bunch of expat American and European dive bums/wanna be dive bums. Great diving to be had there. Not much else there. For Honduras, that’s a plus.

Even back in 1997, the place had a wonderfully chill, laid-back, backpacker party atmosphere.

Yeah, if there were any great beaches, the island would have ended up with a cookie-cutter "resort culture," and it would be like everywhere else in the Caribbean (well maybe not exactly, but like Roatan).

Took the ferry back to Roatan today and spending the night here before flying home tomorrow. Utila has to be one of the only places on earth like it. You can just turn your phone off as soon as you get there and leave it in your room. You will meet a bunch of people on Day 1 and then you will just see everybody as you go down Main Street and you can link back up.

Some various pictures. Enjoyed their Carnival, ate a steak the size of my head, went diving, played baseball against the local kids, drank about a million Salva Vidas, was introduced to the unbelievable delicacy known as breadfruit, chilled by the bay, and ate more baleadas than I can count
