My ice maker stopped producing ice. Thought it was an issue with the water inlet valve, so I replaced it and it's still not working.

Found out after I can get water into the ice maker by using a jumper cable, but it's not filling automatically. Should I just replace the ice maker at this point or is there another failure point?

How are you jumping it to get it to fill? I just fixed one is this Icemaker at the top? And the vent blows out at the top also?

Side by side? If so, have you checked the Youtube videos where you access the tray, hit the front area with your palm and kinda wedge a flat knife near the tray. Hard to explain but the videos do a much better job. If you actually have not, I seriously advise doing so.

Benn there over and over. It's a 2 minute fix.

Ice Maker at the top. Vent at the bottom. Side by side fridge.

If I put a jumper cable in the V and L slots, water will fill the ice maker so it can make ice again, but it will only do it that one time and the water will not fill again unless I manually fill it with the jumper.

This isn't the exact one I have but looks almost the same.

Jumping it and it fills tells you the fill valve/solenoid is working. Does it eject the ice cubes? Take a pic of the wheel/ drive gear and wait 10-15 minutes and see if it has rotated any. Sometimes that wheel/drive gear gets stripped and you can just replace it. If the drive gear is not stripped replace the ice maker unit.

Yes the ice cubes eject. Everything seems to be working as expected outside of the fill.

That tells you the drive gear is spinning. I would order a new one.

It also gets frozen over and won't turn.

Had the same issue on my folks ice maker and I did what OP did by jumping it just to turn it just enough to make a cycle. Has worked ever since.

Identical to one I just changed. Super easy. That is a knock off in the link but should be the correct part number per your model.

When you say jump it are you putting 120v into those connections or just putting two dead wires? I’m just curious? If you are actually putting 120v as said above certainly seems like a bad solenoid

When I bought my fridge 10 years ago I ordered them to remove the ice maker before delivering it because there are always problems. 4 modern plastic ice trays give me plenty of ice and only take 30 seconds of cracking each day.

same on the automatic unit but after using silicone trays I switched to a silicone bowl like this:

when they freeze I break it into medium size chunks about baseball size or so and like this much better than tray because they last longer without diluting what I'm drinking. A couple smacks with a a hammer and dump the chunks in the ice bucket where the failed icemaker used to be

Yep, I just repaired mine as well. Very easy after you understand the mechanics. Watch the youtube video and you will be able to replace.

This may be a terrible recommendation but I’ve fixed several ice makers in several different refrigerators by turning the ice maker off and putting a hair dryer on all the gizmos on the back for ten minutes. It may just be luck but I saw it recommended on the internet and it’s worked for me a few times.

UPDATE - I tried replacing just the ice maker module rather than the whole unit and it's now producing ice. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
