Idk if you think teaching is a stress-free, easy job but it’s really not at all. Think about your shitty, obnoxious kid and now do that times 40 for 8 hours out of the day, and you’re trying to “teach” them something they don’t give af about.

figures, can’t justify or explain only insult. Envy and jealousy isn’t good for your soul, let it go.

don't have kids if you don't want to take care of them or pay to have them taken care of. The school system isn't your god damn daycare

My fear is that the last 2-3 hours are going to wasted with kids

When you remove the amount of time each day spent going to lunch, switching classes, having to get the class settled into working, recess, beginning of day procedures, end of day procedures, etc, you probably have 4 hours if actual instruction per day.

Extend each school day Mon - Thurs by 1 hr and you are accomplishing the same amount of learning.

Until 4 day work weeks become widely adopted, a 4 day school week is a major pain for working parents with kids that aren’t old enough to stay home alone during the day yet. Better hope the kids have a retired grandparent that lives close by

So for all you folks who are crowing about this, what do you expect your average dual working parent household to do for this extra day that they're at work, and their children aren't in school?

You complain about the teachers, but I couldn't imagine being in a classroom with all of those kids and trying to teach them and being limited on how you can handle any disruptive student.

And even worse, they have to deal with their parents, who all think their kid doesn't do any wrong.

And yes our education system sucks. If people would put as much energy into demanding the government improve the education system as they do worrying about a beer company sending a tranny a 6 pack with his face on the cans then something might get done (its something that government should put money into and improve, but as long as people have their attention on other shite then they can spend a bunch of money on shite that doesn't do anything for the American people).

They get fricking 3 months off in the Summer, and another month of Holidays during the school year. An 8 month work schedule, and now they need a 4 day week? How fragile are these people? What they really need is year round school, and for teachers to have to pass a bi-yearly competence exam.... pass or be fired. PERIOD. The kids they are graduating can't read or do basic math... What a bunch of lazy, ineffective, whiners. Work year round like the rest of us, and do your damn jobs.
if it makes you that jealous and angry, go be a teacher

If only there was some sort of way for a lot of parents to work from home one day a week.

Don’t tell Jamie Dimon.

I'm saying it would be a net neutral at worst and potentially an improvement in achievement, student and staff morale, and potential financial savings as well.

potential financial savings as well.

The main reason this is happening. Just the savings in transportation costs is significant.
