1. Problem with one of my front teeth (#8). Already capped but hurting. New dentist (mine retired) prescribed root canal at another Endodontics facility.

2. Multiple X-rays done at both facilities.

3. My new dentist said some decay showing on an existing capped tooth and a cyst located between both front teeth. Probably nothing but maybe get a biopsy.

4. Root canal completed at Endodontics facility and he indicated the cyst was not an issue. Root canal executed thru the cap.

5. Received a call 2 days later saying the root canal done on tooth (#9, the other front tooth) done 8-10 years ago needed to be redone. The X-rays showed a wide open canal (good in my eyes). No pain at all. The receptionist said we can get you in today. I hit the roof and refused.

6. All this even with insurance is amounting to $$$$$$.

7. Why didn't either doctor notice I needed a rework of the original root canal done 8-10 years ago on the X-rays? How did they know it needed to be done?

8. I've decided to postpone any further treatment until after my vacation in 2 weeks. What would you do? I have a call into the referring dentist (my new one).

if you're not in pain and it isn't causing a cosmetic issue i would ignore it

I ignore it unless I’m in pain.

Generally ignore unless symptomatic

A shallow cavity or whatever yeah let them drill it but doing root canals with no pain is weird

I almost made a similar post. Dentist wants to redo a crown that was placed after a root canal. He said edges are uneven and it could be decaying or bacteria getting in or something. Insurance covers it fully but I hate messing with something that is not having issues.

When I questioned the ethics of my dentist, over a procedure, they let me go as a patient. They did not like being called out for over charging me. I got a partial refund and moved on.

Some dentist are scam artist and don't like it when you call them out.

You may need to find a new-new dentist.

Did they recommend you get Invisalign too? I've noticed a lot of dentists have found a way to cut out orthodontists these days, further adding to the list of bullshite they can upsell you on.

I'd get a new dentist honestly. They should have caught this supposed problem.

I am not a dentist but I thought a root canal was a procedure where they removed the root. If that is the case why is there anything there to remove the second time. I dont think they will grow back.

Again I am not a dentist, nor have I ever had a root canal...

At the Endodontics facility, she was a small, skinny woman. Her face was so wrapped in a mask and face shield, I could not tell you what she looked like. At the original dentist office, the woman was an older, de-greed assistant to the doctor. He did have an attractive (non-OT rated 7, OT rated 6) walking around.

Shhhh....Baw. Don't ruin it for us.

How are we supposed to make those yacht payments without doing imaginary root canals.

Retired dentist here. Assuming the pain is gone in a day or two, they got the right tooth. As far as the other tooth, I would let it be for now and have it x-rayed every 6 months during your checkups. If it starts to bother you or you notice the area above it start to swell, get it looked at.

Having dental work done without issues is like changing your tires so the tread doesn't wear.

Back twenty years ago my dentist sold his practice to a young whipper snapper. I met with them both as my dentist introduced him to all his patients and went over all the work he had done on his patients before he moved. My old dentist told me after that visit I be in good hands. Fast forward a year after the whipper snapper took over the practice he tells me I need 4 root canals I laughed at him. So I contacted my old dentist because he had only moved 2hrs away and I made an appointment. I told him what young whipper snapper wanted to do and to this day them four teeth still have the fillings my old dentist put in them probably some thirty to thirty five yrs ago.

Screw these dentist that what to do a root canal on every tooth.
