Mosquitos haven’t been much of an issue this year because of how dry it’s been. Where he’s at he’s in an area that has been listed as “extreme drought” and rain totals are right around 8 inches below normal. I’m about 40 miles away and haven’t swatted at a mosquito since April. The swamps and water holes are pretty much dried up and random wildlife like raccoons, deer, woodchucks, possums, etc. have been moving closer to buildings drinking out of bird baths and pet dishes.

The nights have been warm enough where a fire hasn’t been needed for heat.

The news coverage on this has been odd. Right away there was a ton of stuff then it just stopped completely. After two weeks it popped back into the news cycle for a day and then nothing. You’d think that if a 13 year old went missing it would be a non stop barrage of reminders to keep looking for this kid.

What's he doing for food? Are parents providing it in hopes the sory leads to book or movie rights? I doubt he's eating bugs.

when he was younger he'd go to Alaska and get dropped by helo in the middle of nowhere by himself, and he'd take very minimal gear, a knife, fishing line, some hooks, salt, some sort of gear to make a camp, and a compass, he'd say I'll meet you back here in a couple of weeks, if I'm not here, the wilderness won

When the boy initially went missing about a month ago, the family told police that a gun from the home had gone missing at the same time

Yeah, this right here below

respect the shite out of a kid that can live a month out in the woods all by himself at 13.

is not what happened to this kid.

Bet if the police did some digging, they would find kid was being bullied at school or hiding something from his home life.

Another article said the campsite was found four days after he went missing. I'm afraid this may not have a happy ending.

I loved My Side of the Mountain. Never read Hatchet but I know my kid had to read it in middle school for summer reading.

Does the pic of the boy look like a young River Phoenix or Leonardo Dicaprio to anyone else?

Little Baw, at 13, has seen this world for what it is and he decided to split. He is backing up what a lot of say on here and decided God's country is better than sitting in an instant gratification P.C. world.

This is just the yahoo Story, Other stories shed a little more light on this. Something sounds odd to me:

SAUK COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW) — The father of a 13-year-old boy missing near Devil's Lake State Park spoke to 27 News about his son's disappearance.

William Yoblonski's son, James, has been missing for nearly 48 hours after authorities say he drove a family vehicle to a spot on US 12 and the Sauk hill.

William tells 27 News that his son "is not someone who would run away" and calls the situation "dire."

He expressed that he doesn't care James took the van or a gun, he just wants his son to be safe and come home.

This one of my nine year old son’s favorite books. Not going to be shocked gives it a go out in the woods one day.

Definitely not a "kang". You know, because "kangs" don't do camping.

Another story LINK

"Only trained law enforcement officers and first responders are allowed to search because officers and Yoblonski’s family believe he is in possession of a gun."

“When we locate James, if he does possess that firearm, we have people trained to deal with that situation in the best case possible for the outcome for those who are searching for him and for James,” Schram said."

Never crossed his mind that the boy brought it into the woods for protection from wild animals and hunting?

"William also said James recently received a wilderness survival guide as a gift and that he previously expressed interest in trying to hike in the wilderness.

Schram was also informed of James’ interest in wilderness exploration and said the bluff areas are not designated for hiking and are extremely unsafe. He said officers do not think James has a cell phone and could be lost or injured while trying to act as a survivalist."
