Crews has Scott Boras as his agent. Boras is going to get Crews the absolute most possible money. They say he’s asking for over slot value. The Pirates might not be willing to do that, and both the Pirates and the Dylan Crews camp could walk away happy. Boras may have been able to strike a deal with another team.
It doesn’t make the Pirates wrong if they don’t draft Crews. And it doesn’t mean that Crews will get less money if he falls a couple of spots.
