Fred Gwynne did one of the better Southern accents by a non-Southerner in a movie.

This movie is shown at Yale Law School in Trial Procedure class. The script writer was an attorney.

Saw it recently as well on Pluto. Great movie.
I will say however that most of the southern accents were way overdone….but I assume the NY stuff was overdone too so no big deal.

Since it came out on cable in whatever year that was I can’t pass it up if I see it on. It never gets old. It’s one of my all time favorites.
I love all the lines mentioned here but another favorite is when he has the guy counting bushes and identifying trees and leaves. “Don’t be afraid just shout ‘em right out when you know!”
