last I saw he got a DWI. Yeh I don't know if he has ever gotten over being kicked off the team

No. He hates LSU after getting the boot. It’s on Skip’s Hold the Rope documentary.

Joey Belle was a good player at LSU...but also a pain in the arse later in his career. He tried to kick some bozo fan's arse at the SEC Tournament who allegedly was making racist remarks to him. Given it was a Mississippi St fan in 1987 it probably checks out. He was suspended by Skip for the NCAAT and he never played at LSU again. Since that time I don't think he's ever wanted anything to do with LSU again.

He can’t be trusted to hold the rope

Don't know, but he was the best offensive player in baseball in the mid-90s. Should have won the MVP but got screwed because he was so surly.

Joey Belle at LSU. Skip gave him multiple chances but ended up kicking him off the team. Had a poor attitude.

Pretty good breakdown on wiki:
Belle played college baseball at Louisiana State University from 1985 to 1987, where he made 1st team All-SEC in 1986 and 1987 and played in 184 games, with 585 at bats, 194 hits, 30 doubles, 49 home runs, 172 runs batted in, 157 runs, a .670 slugging percentage, and a .332 batting average.
In 1986, he played collegiate summer baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Chatham A's and was named a league all-star, then returned to the league in 1987 to play for the Hyannis Mets.[4][5] However, the stress of being a potential high prospect shifted his personality, turning tense after his sophomore year.
In his junior year, he was batting .349 before an incident involving a heckler insulting him with racial epithets at an SEC Tournament game led to a suspension that kept him out of the College World Series.[6]

There was picture from not too long back of him and Todd Walker. Maybe something to do with their HS coach?

When I lived in Cleveland in 90s, he was constantly in the local news.
The corked bat saga was especially entertaining.
In '95, some teenage trick-or-treaters egged his house in retaliation for being denied Halloween candy. Belle gave chase in his car, called 911, told the dispatcher he was going to kill the kids if he caught them, and was accused of actually running into one them. They settled out of court, apparently.
The Indians were fun to follow in the mid-90s. Belle certainly gave the team personality.
