It isn’t just looks with regards to lowering standards.
It is also a mix of insanity, kids who come along for the ride, and earning power of the spouse.
If I’m going to be with a grocery clerk from Rouse’s, she better look good and not have kids because I’m clearly not marrying her for the money. Not a lot of career growth potential there without hitting school or OnlyFans.

I'd marry her if there wasn't any crazy and there would be faithfulness.
Problem in 2023 is that clerk can go out and bang any dude she wants mostly and blow up a marriage.
Just look at the Florida baseball coach and the woman he shacked up with.
She blew up her marriage and family to bang the coach. Is she really all that? I doubt it.

one of my friends and coworkers in college is one of the smartest guys i've ever met. valedictorian, UIL state champ in mathematics and Calculator, 4.0, got his masters, and moved up quickly and was making 6 figures in government work by the time he was 24 (worthwhiledly in my opinion.)
bought a house outright due to saving everything from college. he's a 4-6 in the looks department. not a troll by any means but not a great/terrible catch. he married an IRL 6.5-7/OT 5 (she looks a lot like the Pearl girl in the thread that said women need to know their roles yesterday) who had no college and worked at target.
he's incredibly high achieving and just wanted a simple wife.
