LSU Baseball Accomplishes Something That Only The St. Louis Cardinals Have Done at the Maj

The LSU Tigers won the national championship on Monday night by defeating the University of Florida at the College World Series in Omaha.
LSU dominated the game, winning the deciding game three by a score of 18-4. It capped off a great season athletically for the Tigers, who also won the Women's Basketball national championship after defeating Iowa.
As great as 18 runs were, the blowout could have been worse. LSU stranded 18 base runners in the game as well.
With that unique statline, the Tigers did something that only one other team in Major League Baseball history has done:
Per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press on Twitter:
LSU scored 18 runs and stranded 18 runners tonight. Absurd. Happened once in an MLB game. In 1944. Stan Musial and the Cardinals did it to Cincinnati.
This hasn't happened in a major league game in nearly 80 years. That really is amazing. What's also amazing from LSU's perspective is that they are very likely to have the top two picks in the draft at the Major League draft next month.
Outfielder Dylan Crews and pitcher Paul Skenes could be the top two picks, in either order.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have the top pick in the draft while the Washington Nationals have No. 2. The Detroit Tigers pick third, followed by the Texas Rangers, the Minnesota Twins, the Oakland Athletics, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies and Miami Marlins.
That's the top 10.
For LSU, that was the seventh national championship for the program.

Sure didn't feel like 18 LOB.

Wasnt as noticeable because we were getting a few runs in each time. Not getting goose-egged with bases loaded.

Just another reason freaking out about LOB numbers is stupid when you have the number one offense in the country

Anyone know how many of those were RISP? I agree that 18 feels high but who knows….

We left the bases loaded at least 2x with Beloso not being able to get a hit to score a run. I think Thompson had bases loaded as well once and popped out. Maybe only 2 on. We had 2-3 runners LOB almost every inning

Beloso had a line out and a ground out to leave bases loaded. That’s 6 right there. Thompson left some on late as well. I think Travinski had a few.

Pretty sure most were RISP. Difference is, we were scoring runs then leaving them on base. No one makes a big issue out of it if you score 3+ runs and leave the bases loaded. But, have the bases loaded and score 0 runs; may as well step away from the message boards for a few minutes

Some of them were also late in the game when it was out of reach. And Beloso had one lined out hard to leave the bases loaded on one occasion

Could’ve hung 30 on them 17 stranded the day before? Amazing.

How many did the Tigers leave on the first game? Something like 20-21?
