Back in the day we'd go to bed when the sun went down, sleep for four hours, wake up for an hour or three to have sex or socialize, then go back down for another four hours.
I think there is something to this as an instinctual daily pattern for life on earth. There is too much activity in nature during transitional times in the day to ignore. Humans do the same if you take away all of the things that impair our ability to follow this pattern

When I was in the service I was stationed in England. Met a little sweetie that was going to show me around the country side. She told me to come Knock her up at 6 am.
This lil young coonass was there a 5:30. Funny how sayings have different meanings.

was an invention called the alarm clock. Before that men went to sleep and woke up on time with no help, like men should do. There was none of this "let me stay up late and watch TV and play video games, so the alarm clock can wake me up because I can't get my lazy fat arse up in time for work."
Now get off my lawn you lazy fuqs!
The alarm clock has been around since the 1780s.

The earliest alarm clock dates back to around 250 BCE, and was invented by the Greeks. It was nothing like the alarm clocks we use today; its mechanism was basically that of a water clock where rising water would keep time and eventually hit a mechanical bird that triggered an alarming whistle.

Yeah let’s go back to when we died if we got a fever. That’s what real men did

The real issue is navigation. Dumbasses can't drive a straight line without their phone and an app.

I hate this time of the year. The sun comes up too early. We should institute a second daylight saving time between May 15 to August 15 if not an hour, a half hour. 6 am sunrises are for the birds. Save that extra daylight for the afternoon
So instead of dark at 10 PM, it would then get dark at 11 PM

It depends on where you live. Here is South Louisiana, the sun sets around 8, twilight runs till about 8:30/9. But if you are further north yes your sun sets would be later so 11 pm is okay with me.
Of course an easy fix for me would be to summer in places like Bismarck, North Dakota or Anchorage, Alaska where the sun sets, but you stay in twilight all night. If I go any further north to place like Barrow, it will be daylight all day.

You got my upvote for acknowledging that cell phones destroyed society.

Are you coming to us from the 24th and a half century?

Back in the 80’s I had a Sony Dream Machine which was the GOAT alarm clock. I could drift off to sleep listening to WRNO. It would shut off after 45 minutes and then wake me up for school the next morning.

And some boomers refuse to use the maps app on their iPhone and will circle around multiple times before calling people for directions

This and the apps (you can download better ones) will redirect you to a different/quicker route if there is heavy traffic, crash, etc. ahead of you.
Old angry people who refuse to use technology can sit on the interstate complaining about traffic. The rest of us will just get to the destination quicker.
