JH was on our list of possibilities. I’ve heard a lot of the blues are cat tracks traversing across the mountain instead of the nice wide open blues like snowmass has. Is that accurate or are there enough fun blues to keep a kid entertained for 4 days?

There are enough blues aside from cat tracks for a good 2-3 days (depending on how long you ski each day) at JH I’d say. I’m not a confident black skier, but found the bowl coming down from the tram not so bad. You could always do a day at snow-king as well.
Cuse mentioned sun valley and I like it as well, but found the blues more challenging than the CO mountains. Big Sky would have plenty of blues and easy blacks to keep you entertained for 4 days, but the town itself is not as good as Jackson or Ketchum.

Plenty of terrain to explore. There's also wide open blacks as well that you kid may enjoy if he's trying to push his ski abilities a bit. I don't think you'd go wrong with Jackson for a trip here. I liked sun valley as well, just depends if you want Wyoming or Idaho?

If Canada is an option I would look at Banff, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise would offer a lot to exlore and the town of Banff is awesome. Shuttles/busses everywhere so you don't need a car and the exchange rate is awesome.

If you are looking at the US only, I think Big Sky offers more than Jackson, especially if you like tree skiing. Some of my favorite tree runs are on the Moonlight side of Big Sky and other parts of the mountain also have some great trees.
