The tweet linked in the OP was incorrect. Trump was not talking about Perdue versus Kemp in the primary. He was talking about Perdue versus Osoff for senate.

All he has ever done is play to his base. Just like those that have been within his circle, if you are not 100% with him you are the enemy.
If the dems had put up a decent candidate in either election his results would have been horrific.
