Woman sues man after he refused to pay for her 23 relatives on a first date. Man wins

So, back in 2021 in a province in China a man goes on a blind date with a woman. She shows up....with 23 of her relatives, hoping the guy would pick up the tab. Or as she says "testing his generosity before committing to a relationship"
He refuses and walks out on the tab, leaving her to pay. Her family then sues him for the money.
Within the past few days the court case was decided in the man's favor, he "only" had to pay for himself and his date, not the whole family.

Serious question.. why was he found responsible for the date’s meal?
I mean obviously is customary to pay for the date. It’s more of a gentlemen or nice thing to do, even if you’re not interested. But which law says you have to?
