Not much really.. and I have been extremely busy.
I got a few neat pieces... and here we go. I have very little time for this post but will do my best. I guess that I will start here.
German Anti Personnel "S" Mine" aka "Bouncing Betty".. "S" was for shrapnel. This was the one the US Doggies hated the most. Once tripped it would bounce up about 3 feet and exploded hundreds of steel balls everywhere in a effort to wound infantrymen. a really ugly beast here.
Next... Pilots FLight suit. Being this one is lightweight as it is I believe this to belong to a pilot/bombardier in the Pacific.
The Mae West is Dated. 1944
It belong to this man. His photo and other items were in the pocket.. Unfortunately I have absolutely zero information on Who this Gentleman is. But maybe there is something that I can do.
Here is his graduation book.
The suit also came with this little piece of sweetheart jewelry..
and inside that is... This picture... His sweetheart.
and lastly... finally a CZ 27.. Built in Czechoslovakia. But when the Germans over ran Czechoslovakia they took over the weapons plants and started producing weapons for their military and gave them the eagle with Swastika.
The CZ27 was issued mostly to the Luftwaffe and was a favored gun by Luftwaffe personnel such as Pilots/Bomadiers/gunners etc... I believe because they were light, small and had a recessed hammer which would allow to be stored in pants, jacket pocket without a holster and not get hung up due to a hammer catching the clothing. I absolutely love this piece.
Here is a luftwaffe Sgt with one.
I saw the "WHo gets your stuff when you die" thread.. It made me think... I am up to 5 mannequins now and growing. I need a larger house... But what I am planning on doing is this. I hope to make my collection an official museum. Starting by making it a non profit organization for now.
AS I was travelling through Kansas I saw an Abandoned Train Station in Concordia Kansas. This gave me the idea that I will start seeking out an Abandoned Train Station and it would be the perfect place to actually set up.
When I pass, I want the entire collection to be a public display and own entity as a stand alone museum.
Right now I need more room for my diorama and displays.
Have a great day.. I have to go as I am behind now... BUt later when I have time I hope to do a thread on Cooking and Food and show off my mannequins one day. I am up to 5 now.

Thats what I am thinking... But time is a commodity that I don;t have... When I retire soon, I hope to scan every letter and document etc...
I am looking for a small video camera now and I plan to start a youtube channel.. I plane to read all the WWII letters that I have... I believe I have about 300 so far and know that will grow..
I truely enjoy reading what they wrote, how they felt and what was going on in the country and their monds back then... And you can decipher so much from a letter or photo.

Very cool! Just out of curiosity, where do you find this stuff? Surely not yard sales?
Posted on 6/9/23 at 10:25 am to WWII Collector
Very nice. Is the gun functional?

Any recommendation on where to sell WWII Luger and memorabilia ?
Cliff notes Backstory..
My great uncle was stationed in Africa in the tank division battling Rommel throughout the desert when they came across a small German patrol. My uncle shot and killed the German officer standing in a Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 half track. He took his gun, holster, all his Nazi medals and ammunition and buried it in the desert to retrieve it later.
He brought it home after the war and has been in my family ever since.

I enjoy the hell out of your threads. Do you plan on firing the CZ?
Posted on 6/9/23 at 10:28 am to WWII Collector
I'd be interested to see what the production date is on that CZ. That has to be a late war production with that type of rough quality

Right here... I would purchase the entire group and/or put you in touch with some of my true collector buddies... None of anything that I own is ever for re-sale.
Having the story with the pieces will allow me or another to keep the story together for the future.. and I would love have and documents these pieces.
you can contact me at: the1943museum@yahoo.com
Answering everyone else.
I have not fired the cz27 yet but I plan too... I have not had time for the range.
I am trying to stockpile .32 auto ammo because I have 2 weapons now that fire it and I anticipate 4 when I get a Walther PPK and an Italian 1934 Beretta... But .32 auto is pretty high right now.
also... the link to the bombardier class of '43 does not work for me... I hope to research it as soon as I can.

That's actually Gomer Pyle
Posted on 6/9/23 at 10:40 am to WWII Collector
Is the Bouncing Betty hollowed out from the bottom or marked in some way to indicate it is disarmed? I'd hate for some bomb squad to destroy history after you're gone.
