Well that’s one way to get new blood into the program.

I’m not sure what the hell they see in her but glad she’s gone and we finally get a shakeup to the coaching staff

Beth will probably just promote Sandra Simmons. Not saying that is a good or bad thing it just seems like the program has gotten lazy.

LOUISIANA- The opposing team coaching career killer.
Posted on 6/3/23 at 11:58 am to bigtiger89
In 2023 LSU was third in the SEC in fielding percentage, led the SEC with 4 players on the all defensive team, and had the only Golden Glove winner in the conference.
Beth needs to make a solid hire to replace this huge loss.

This was a big loss, you don't get a top ACC job not being a good coach. Still with our facilities and returning players Beth should get a good hire.

Please Lindsey, take Beth with you to NC State.
LSU Softball is the definition of Mediocrity.
Many of us thought Woodward would have made a move by now on a new HC.

All of the many are idiots for thinking the AD would sack the #10 national seed.

It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I am choosing to believe for now that this move was somewhat encouraged from within. Maybe this was the first good coaching opportunity she’s been offered or maybe this was the first time she was honestly looking to make a move. Mama bird may have finally kicked her out of the nest to the benefit of both parties.

If anybody insisted that she leave, it was not Torina.

I wasn’t suggesting that Torina wasn’t “encouraged” to do so.

The #10 seed in a sport that has maybe 15-20 top notch teams. Stop defending mediocrity. Beth lost out to a smaller La school and the program has grown complete stale and dull. Face reality and stop calling people dumb when if fact your the emotional
Dumb one.

Why would anyone ask her to leave when her group, the defense, was the strength of the team.
Falling upwards to a P5 HC gig is a silly notion.

You obviously don’t follow softball.

If it’s the only move that happens, you’re probably right. If her moving on is part of a larger staff overhaul, then it could make sense. How many coaching staffs have an assistant dedicated to defense? They may be re-structuring to bring in a pitching coach or making room for new blood at hitting coach (either moving Dobson out or shifting him to another role).

And that will win you a lot of games. But the game has gotten a lot more offensive recently. I won’t pretend to follow this program or softball in general until the postseason. But my daughter started playing this year, so I started paying a bit more attention and watching when it was on. And it’s clear that games are a lot more high scoring now than they were 15-20 years ago.
My high school’s softball team won state every year I was there, I lived in Austin when Kat Osterman was at UT, and I dated a girl that coached a high school softball team, all in the late 90s/early aughts. So I was pretty plugged in at the time. And the common denominator on all the best teams I saw was they had the best pitching. Not just pitching, the best pitcher, singular. The team with the best pitcher almost always won.
And most games were like 1-0 or 2-1. I don’t remember ever seeing a single home run. Now I turn it down and see girls with 15+ home runs dropping bombs in 10-8 games. I have no idea what happened to cause such a surge in offense—if I didn’t know any better, I’d think they’d have move the mound back a bit. Regardless, it’s clear you can’t just recruit the best pitcher and ride her to national championships every year. You’ve got to be able to score. And to my very layman eyes, it seems that LSU has had trouble keeping up with the elite programs when it comes to hitting. Whether that’s identifying talent, being able to recruit it, developing it once they get to campus, or what, Beth and co. have to figure out a way to run a better hitting lineup out there 1-9 in order to compete at the highest level. But I’m not sure how you do that.

She was the one assistant we probably wanted to keep.
