Yeah, I thought that but it's 5 conductors (unless one was stubbed off). POTS is 4, 6 or 8 conductors.
AWM means appliance wire material. POTS also uses twisted pair which this cable is not.

It is using 6. The gray/uninsulated one is probably just being used for bonding.
