Kayaking the Atchafalaya basin and surrounding areas (nsfwish)

I’m looking for good scenic kayak photography spots, which I can find myself usually. Mainly I’m looking for good launch points on the basin.
Also, I think I’m about to drive down to Cameron and explore the coast in a couple areas, so maybe head toward Rockefeller or other spots to scout. Fishing down here would be my main goal.
As a sign of my gratitude, here’s the tits on the BR cougar I’ve been putting the hammer to lately. Cheers.

Lake Martin is an easy one to go to.

I went down to Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge just passed Pecan Island today. Probably counted about 25 gators in a half hour, just easin’ around.
These look like roseatte spoonbills. Someone more keen on birds than me might can chime in. These pink birds weren’t in the refuge but were in a crawfish pond just north of Pecan Island.

Buffalo Cove and Bayou Gravenburg. Put in at Sandy Point Landing, take the GA cut south until you hit Buffalo Cove on the left. Enter here, (29.9799653, -91.5263044). If that’s too big of a paddle, launch at the Bayou Benoit landing and paddle north for nearly as nice views.
Sampsons Cove. This is in Lake Fausse Pointe which is no longer part of the basin, it’s outside the levy but it’s just as beautiful. Put in at Marshfield landing ($3) and head south. Take a left at the T (teche lake canal) then hang another left when it starts to open up to the lake. Once that opens up, everything on your left is Sampson’s cove.

Great suggestions thus far.
If you enjoyed looking at those Spoonbills then Lake Martin is a good place for you. I dont know if you’re supposed to paddle into the bird sanctuary or not, though. I remember there being signs. Little & Big Alabama in Sherbune can also pick up a few fish if that interests you. Henderson, look up Toy Toy area you can paddle through that cypress flat and stay in the shade.
