Saw a guy yesterday with a green Outback, with aggressive AT’s.
Wonder how that rig does off road ?

Probably better than all the jacked up 3/4 tons with giant rims.

Friend of mine had one and he got through a lot of mud with it
He said he could also go where trucks couldn't

I saw a stock looking Subaru go through Chicken Corner Trail in Moab pretty dang well.

Once saw a 1978 Lincoln Towncar Jack up with gumbo mudders on it.

I had one when I lived in colorado. Took it elk hunting one year and watched a guy give me defeated angry stares as I drove right through a rock garden that had just claimed the bumper off his grand Cherokee. No idea on mud but snow and ice were no problem.

Outback has a stock offroad package that’s pretty sweet looking.
Just make sure you get the boxer turbo.

Great for mountain trials. Big old f150s would have a tough time in the narrow mountain trials.
Just need clearance. Not much mud in the Rockies

They are ultra bad arse off road. Far better than any 8,000lb F250.

My 2016 pathfinder with the garbage CVT did very well in the mountains of VA.
My brother’s Sierra got stuck, then he was pulled out with a sXs.
Then I got stuck and turned traction control off and made it out.
Very lightweight and the SV models have larger tires or smaller rims on them. Then you have to cross a 2 foot deep creek that I was concerned about. And the only thing I did was knock my air fairing off.

My dad as a teenager in early 80s had a CJ5 and would get stuck and my grandad had a suburb awd and would come pull him out in it and embarrass him

Back in the day we had Lincoln’s and Oldmobile delta 88s with buckshots on the catfish farms. They were called Isola Fords around here

Back in the 70s, my dad had a late 40's stock Willy's Jeep with those hard skinny knobby tires that would go straight up the mountains in KY, while dudes with their CJ's and fat mud tires would all spin out and couldn't make it up the same hill. I suppose the skinny tires would cut through the mud and get down to something solid while the fat wide mud tires would sit on top of the mud and spin. Probably had alot to do with gearing as well.

My work car is the cheapest 2016 Impreza money could buy at the time. While I do not have very aggressive tires on it, it gets me anywhere I want to fish up in the Uintas with no problems at all. That new Forester model they have is fairly beastly when it comes to offroad.

this right heah. Owned over 10 Subarus while living in CO. Damn things could push up through a foot plus of snow on my driveway before I had time to plow. And yes, not ashamed to say I've put a cow elk in one of our older models. The cow wasn't driving btw.

Seriously thinking about getting one after my truck is paid off. For offroading and traveling.

We used to have mud races in a field with old jacked up 70s and 80s trucks on 44s and souped up engines. There was a bayou next to it about 4-5 feet deep theyd cross. People would line up on tailgates and drink and watch trucks race and get stuck. All those badass trucks would get buried and one guy in a Geo Tracker would go right through the same hole no problem.
Sometimes it’s just lightweight and speed that works. Seen a stock Honda 300 put a decked out Arctic Cat 1000 to shame before
