You have to catch a pop fly.

Yeah he gave up two runs. So did Skenes.

When he gets tagged usually it's a deep shot because his FB sits in the upper 90s as does Skenes and Floyd.

Thompson made up for it with the HRs but he is our SS, need him to get us out of the 8th there.

Looking back at the game thread the animosity was ridiculous.

Good for Jay for sticking with him.

We have some really ignorant fans. Totally agree with you. You cannot spew venom at the pitcher when you can’t catch a pop up and you’re routinely giving the opponent 4 or 5 outs via errors

I think In Jay’s mind he can live with Hurd getting hit because he’s throwing strikes.

He can’t live with him walking 2 guys and then giving up a Lin drive to score 2 and a man on base.

Base runner should have never been on either. Cooper for sure struck him out but the ump missed the call.

But Cooper walks a guy, Thompson drops a pop up and Hurd is the guy that gets blamed.

The one thing I love about Hurd is that he fights. Even when things aren't going well, he fights to right the ship.

Last night he did, which was great to see. We have seen Hurd walk somebody and then fly off the rails, not even coming close to throwing another strike.

I want to see how Coleman does Sunday, and how they handle extending him. I'm not giving up hope on Hurd as a starter still.

Errors killed the team last year. They were much improved this season, but have still come back to haunt us on more than a few occasions.

People here love to finger point, but the fact is at one time or another the O, the D and the pitchers failed to do their jobs. People pick out one of the more egregious plays and blame that one guy for everything.

Thankfully the glass isn’t half empty. It’s easy to see that we made a lot top top shelf plays, we had some big homers and our hurlers delivered sone big pitches.

The team won this game.

Thompson’s drop sent this game to extra innings (wind issue?). Milazzo pb/wp gave UGA another extra out. Hurd showed great grit and mental toughness to pitch through it. Jay and Wes have needed to let guys pitch through adversity versus quick change. Tonight, they did it and it builds confidence in Hurd.

I hope this game swings the mo back to the positive.

We are in a psychological funk right now and time is closing in to fix it or we’ll be looking at next year again.

Both homers were off the often thrown slider that hung. He threw a bunch of good ones both those two weren’t good. He then was given signals from god to mix in the fastball and all was welll

Thompson wouldn't have even been that spot if the ump had given Cooper a fair zone.

Do you know how many pop ups that Thompson has caught in his career. You have some nerve talking negatively about him . How dare you ! Could you have caught it?

Hurd pitched well. LSU won. Thompson also hit two bombs. Baseball is hard and these guys aren’t perfect. Just win Baby

It’s about getting outs. It’s about the pitcher showing he has control of the strike zone. Runs are runs regardless of how they are scored. Hurd pitched great! He didn’t get rattled after the 2 solo shots. I hope he’s able to keep it up. We need Little and Money to do the same. Those 3 are the inning eaters. They could go 3 to 5 innings if needed.

Thats the reason Riley Cooper pitches often.

I'll take contact over walks. The walks and leaving men on base on offense are the main issues we have.

Yea I looked at Cooper’s squeeze next to the Crews strike 3 call in the 11th I think it was and it was egregious. Game shoulda been over in 9.

I agree.

Ultimately, while the ump tried to keep Georgia's hopes alive, he made winning the series harder for them because of the grit that Hurd showed.

Not to mention the emotional roller coaster and coming up short and deflated.
