Do you know anyone who's a compulsive gambler?

We have a client who I strongly suspect. He inherited substantial real estate holdings and every few months sells a little more of it off. Sports and gambling are all he wants to talk about when he's in the office.

Can't take it with you when you die.

I have an uncle that's a professional poker player. I've never understood how you can actually make a living off of that, but I am sure he probably does other "less than legal" activities too.

The odds are more folks who frequent a sports-related website would be prohibitive favorites to have a gambling issue, I'd wager.

Some of wife's family are big casino spenders. Not sure how much but they get those platinum cards and free shite or whatever. I went a few times but pretty much won't go back because it seems impossible to win. I guess some people never realize that quickly.

I have a tenant who can't get out of the casino. He has an insolvency agency that handles his expenses including rent and he has a little left over for him. The dude does side jobs for cash and blows it all in the casino. He is not a bad guy ,but is stupid as shite when it comes to that topic.

i did

he could not stop gambling even after losing everyrhing- his beautiful wife and daughter, his beautiful house....

ended up moving back in with his mom. Finally decided suicide was his only option. His 86 year old mother had to call 911 but it was too late.

I may be the only one in my group that isn't a compulsive gambler.

Graduated a few years ago. Feel like everyone I know is obsessive sports gambler. It’s crazy and all over the workplace as well

I bet most of us do.

I worked at a casino for a few years. It was pretty depressing. Folks would come in and get carried away with their marker and end up gambling their life's savings away

I know one guy. Former boss and very wealthy. I’ve never understood why wealthy people find the need to gamble?

Had a friend who really wasn't even that big a sports fan in college. Graduated, married, had kids, and then I heard he's in rehab for blowing all their money on gambling. I hope he's doing better now

No but I knew a guy a college that was pretty good at cards. Knew when to hold and when to fold. Knew when to walk away, too

It has to be pretty bad with the online world right now. I'm not too bad with the sports, but have gone gotten semi-addicted on the casino side a few times and it can get ugly. There are people playing $500 live-dealer blackjack hands like it's nothing. If the suburban women who love slots are getting online, too, I'd bet there are dozens of people bankrupting themselves every day.
