We have this many people here that regularly eat there? Isn’t this on par with like Applebees and chilis?

There are good chain restaurants, and there are bad chain restaurants. Texas Roadhouse is a GREAT chain restaurant. The quality of the food for the price that you pay is absolutely fantastic. They have a big menu with lots of well-executed dishes that can satisfy a large party of picky eaters. When I am on a road trip, not in a food destination, and able to splurge above fast food, Texas Roadhouse is one of the places I am on the look out for.
There’s only two reasons why I don’t eat there more often:
1. Location is far enough from my house to be mildly inconvenient (requiring a specific trip there)
2. There’s often a long wait for a table because it’s so popular and jam packed with customers.
3. I’m pretty good at making my own steaks at home (granted, my bluetooth thermometer went missing a few months ago, causing BIG problems)
When I’m not paying, would I pick Texas Roadhouse over Commander’s, Shaya, or Gino’s? Absolutely not. But when I’m looking for dinner at one of the 4 interstate exits within a 5 mile stretch of this suburban sprawl inland America, flyover country, mid-sized city, or I just want an affordable steak and some good bread in Baton Rouge, it’s a great option.

Rolls, chicken fried steak with white gravy, baked potato.
I’m not sure what all seasoning/food additive/illegal drug they put on their baked potatoes, but they’re much better than they should be.

Made it a few mins before 9pm. Was told 35-40mins. Parking lot was chock full with graduations going on. People outside looked miserable so I left.

Finally tried this place. Very good experience, entire family of four happy with our meal. I had the medallions which are served over brown rice and you still get two more sides! I added the house salad and loaded baked potato and had the portobello sauce for the steak. I had two beers and we still got out of there for under $100. We will go again.

The appeal is that it's a decent steak for a reasonable price. If you go expecting a high-end steakhouse type of meal, you'll be disappointed. But if you want to take the family out and not spend a fortune it's a good option.

Prime rib followed closely by the Dallas Filet. I'm not normally a filet guy, but they must season that cut different than the other steaks.

For being in the same tier as Outback, it's way better. Usually way more crowded for that reason, I guess.

We went recently in BR and didn’t have to wait long at around 7, but the place was packed. THE most eclectic clientele in BR eats here- all sizes, all colors- it was entertaining to say the least. Nobody seems to follow any kind of dress code because there were tank tops, button downs, jeans, cut offs, spandex (ugh), and everything in between. That said, a damn good meal at a reasonable price. We were hesitant to go but I’m glad we did.
