I have an opportunity to take an expat work assignment in Singapore for 2 years. Anyone have firsthand experience on the process or the area they could share? The company takes care of most if not all of the details and leg work m, just curious about experiences.

go for it ... you won't regret it. You would also be at the doorstep of all that SE Asia has to offer (Thailand, Vietnam, Bali is close, Australia becomes manageable and on and on).

I went to Singapore in January of 2020. It's hot as balls every day of the year. You will need to shower 3 times a day. The cost of beer is outrageous.

Singapore is great. Not necessarily cheap but very cool culture with great food. Short flights to many other interesting places to visit. I would do this.

100 percent go for it. I just visited but I would easily do this.

Would do it in a heartbeat, but just know, Singapore is expensive AF.

Been there twice and yearning to go back, just haven't pulled the trigger. So easy to jump to Thailand, Vietnam, or Bali from there.

Just visited a friend who is on a two year contract work project there. His company paid for everything including a 4 story house with an elevator so his family went with him. He has a daily personal driver. The bid just for a certificate to own a car there is $100k ( that’s not even the car).

They took that opportunity to visit all the Asian countries on their bucket list including the Maldives but after a year, they’re home sick and ready to come back.

Great place but very warm when I went in February. Can’t imagine their summers.

Louisiana/south Texas is just as bad, if not worse.

Got into an argument with a friend there and them claiming it was so much worse, so showed them the temps in the south July/Aug and it often hitting 100+ with 100% humidity and they were like "holy shite". Theirs is just longer and sustained heat.
