Dinner review for Proverbial Wine Bistro last night.

Starters:
Burrata + Prosciutto
(pickled apples and pears, honey goat cheese, balsamic reduction, crostini)
4.5 out of 5.
The flavors all worked together so well for this and its a great balance of textures. I only wish it came with more crostini.
Crab Cakes
(lump crab, grilled asparagus, remoulade, roasted tomato)
3 out of 5.
The cakes weren't anything special. They actually lacked in the lump meat department. The flavor was good though and so were the portions. The highlight of this was the bed of corn maque choux that the cakes sat on. We cleaned the plate of that part.
Entree:
The Prime Cut Board
(16 oz ribeye, duck fat potatoes, cauliflower au gratin, rockefeller spinach, red wine mushrooms, roasted asparagus, blistered tomato, hollandaise, worcestershire reduction)
4.5 out of 5.
The wife and I shared this entree and it was one of the best entrees I've had as of late. Everything was excellent and extremely flavorful. I will make sure to get those red wine mushrooms in some capacity on our return trips. My one knock was we ran into a bit of gristle on the ribeye. Not something I'm accustomed to for a prime cut so I'm sure it was just something missed when cutting the steaks.
Dessert:
The Happy Ending Board
(chef's selection of 4 desserts, with fruit, and sweet sauces)
2.5 out of 5.
Our four desserts were chocolate lava cake, a lemon blueberry cake, salted caramel cheecake in a jar, and tiramisu. We opted to not get the baklava. The lava cake was overcooked and nearly inedible. Tasted like it was just nuked in the microwave. The lemon blueberry cake was just dry and you could tell it was just pulled straight from the fridge. The cheesecake was very good and so was the tiramisu. I liked that the board was littered with whipped cream because it made it easy to get a little with each bite of dessert. It was also full of blueberries everywhere which seemed unnecessary to me. We won't be getting this on a return trip.
Cocktails:
The Cavendish
(Sugarfield Spiced Rum, Banana Liqueur, Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, Orange Bitters)
3.5 out of 5.
It was very good, but I knocked it because it was heavy on the orange bitters. It overshadowed the rest of the ingredients.
Mark Twain Lost in the Woods
(Our classic old fashion run through our smoker with your choice of woods :
Applewood | Bourbon Barrel | Cherry Hickory | Maple | Mesquite | Oak | Pecan)
4 out of 5.
Very good old fashioned, but the smoke added zero to the flavor. I would just get a regular old fashioned next time. I always try the gimmicky smoked ones, but I'm close to giving up on them.
Keepeth the Fig Tree
(Blume Marrilen apricot eau de vie, lemon, fig, hazelnut, almond, French bubbles)
4.5 out of 5.
This was a nice variation of a French 75. My wife ordered 3 of these because she enjoyed it so much.
Practice What You Peach
(Sazerac Rye, Sugarfield peach liqueur, lemon, thyme, tea)
5 out of 5.
My favorite drink by far. Great balance and flavor.
Overall Experience:
4.25 out of 5.
We booked a reservation here on a whim yesterday. When it comes to restaurants that we've dropped several hundred dollars at, I have to say this was one of the better ones. Often times I feel like we spend so much and don't feel satisfied. The food was unique and flavorful and executed really well. The drinks were great also. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. I would recommend people check this place out, but skip the dessert. I should also note that service was great also. Everyone was friendly and food came out in a timely manner and so did drinks.

Been meaning to try this place. How many hundred dollars was it?

It’s on my list too. Really want to eventually get out there.

Great review. I hope we start getting more like this

Bill was $230 for what I had listed basically. Tipped $50 so we made out for under $300

There had to be at least a hundred dollars on cocktails
