Crews to Leadoff?

If Crews continues to “slump” (2 games isn’t really a slump for normal baseball players, but it kind of is for Crews), does CJJ consider moving Crews up to the leadoff spot? Crews has said he’s more comfortable hitting leadoff, and he’s been successful doing it in previous seasons.

It would take a pretty big lineup shakeup, because you’d obviously have to move Tanks up to the 2-hole to keep him behind Crews for protection.

What does The Rant think?

frick no. These knee-jerk reactions after a few games in a 60+ game season are ridiculous.

Need Dugas and Morgan to get on base. Crews will be fine. Tanks is raking.

I think the idiots who know nothing about baseball come out the woodwork when LSU loses a game.

Crews is your best baserunner and overall player. I could see him being leadoff. Tanks is 3rd in that scenario.

Wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction. I acknowledged it was only a 2-game “slump” and was just asking a hypothetical question if he would continue to slump. He should stay in the 3-hole for now, but I just wouldn’t be opposed to trying him at leadoff if he continues to struggle a little bit.

You want Crews batting with people on base and White batting right after him. Yesterday was an anomaly. Don't shake things up just because of one game.

I get that, but Bear did a pretty good job of getting on base in the 9-hole last night, and he has a .451 OBP for the year. That’ll get the job done hitting in front of Crews.

Also, Bear would probably get a lot of good pitches to hit with Crews and Tanks hitting behind him.

Not saying it should, or will happen. Just some food for thought.

Who would you trust more than Crews in the 3 hole? Also he could’ve gone 4-4 with 4 bloops last night and many here would say he’s en fuego. BABIP ebbs and flows, even for the best

That's retarded. You could argue moving Dugas to 4 and everyone up after last night because it's a specific example where if we had

1. Tre
2. Crews
3. Tommy

Then Crews could have gotten another AB

With Crews and Tanks 1 and 2, I’d have Morgan 3 and Dugas 4

How is a batter more comfortable in a certain spot?

With the best offense in college baseball, the craziest thing I would consider is switching Morgan and Dugas. I like Morgan's AB's when he lead off, and Dugas would see more pitches with Crews behind him. That said, I wouldn't consider it that long unless something else happened to trigger it such as both players requesting it.

Tanks has to hit behind crews no matter what. So if crews is leadoff then tanks is 2nd. And thats just dumb
