PORT ALLEN —— An assistant district attorney for the 18th JDC was given an unpaid suspension after he showed up at a crime scene and got into an alleged heated exchange with West Baton Rouge Parish deputies.
District Attorney Tony Clayton said Randall Gay arrived at a home where deputies were executing a search warrant Wednesday night. Gay’s son, Randall Gay III, 19, was arrested on drug and gun charges.
Specifically, he was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances) & possession with the intent to distribute sch. I narcotics
Clayton said he was informed of the situation after the deputies executed the warrant and he took action.
“That is not appropriate behavior coming from an ADA,” Clayton said
Gay’s unpaid suspension begins immediately. He is scheduled for a disciplinary hearing on June 15 and will remain on suspension till then.
Clayton said the deputies were executing a warrant related to an earlier shooting. “They (deputies) located the car and they look inside at what appeared to be marijuana,” Clayton said.
Clayton said he is prosecuting the case.
According to arrest documents, WBRSO deputies executed a search warrant on a home on Red Hat Road in Brusly at around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies observed a black SUV with a personalized license plate “New Orleans Saints #20” in the driveway with three people sitting in the vehicle.
Gay III told authorities there was a gun in the vehicle and deputies recovered a Glock from under the seat. The front passenger Kentrell Moore, 19, was removed from the vehicle and another Glock was found under the front passenger seat.
A third passenger, Sydney Moore, 20, was removed from the back seat and deputies found a pistol on the floorboard that was said to be stolen in Addis.
Authorities say the deputies found two bags containing marijuana in the vehicle that weighed 16 grams and 20.5 grams respectively.
Sydney Moore was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances), possession with the intent to distribute sch. I narcotics and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
Kentrell Moore was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances) & possession with the intent to distribute sch. I narcotics.
Demarcus Brown, 19, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons.
Before he was an assistant district attorney, Gay was an NFL defensive back for seven years, winning a Super Bowl with both the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots.
Gay also played football at LSU and Brusly High School.

I didn’t know this either:
Randall and his wife, Desha, have two sons. After Gay's retirement, he and Desha decided to go to law school together. In 2015, they both graduated from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge.

Yeah.
Can't imagine what the roller coaster must be like to have 2 superbowl rings, be worth 10's of millions of dollars, and wind up in an average house in Brusly with a kid in all kinds of trouble

Apparently Gay was arrested by BRPD a decade ago.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Former New Orleans Saints cornerback Randall J. Gay has been arrested after he allegedly pushed two employees at a Baton Rouge bar and refused to leave.
Police Lt. Don Kelly says Gay was booked Thursday with entering/remaining on premises after being forbidden, two counts of simple battery, resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by public intoxication. He was released from Parish Prison after posting bail.
It was not immediately known whether he has an attorney.
Kelly says police were called to The Bulldog on Perkins Road at 1:45 a.m. to investigate a report of someone refusing to leave after being asked to do so.
Gay, of Brusly, is a former LSU defensive back who played for New England and New Orleans, including the Saints' 2009-10 Super Bowl championship team.
